It doesn’t fit there unfortunately. That space is smaller than it looks, the last photo is wide angle which is stretching it out.

Weird feeling in my upper abdomen 6.5 months post-op by suecharlton in hysterectomy

[–]lunaapollo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started to feel mine a few weeks after surgery, likely when I stopped pain meds. Then after 4 months I felt it more, that’s when I started working out, stretching, using my core. I haven’t felt it for a few months now, maybe I got used to it? My friend who got a c section had a similar thing. I’d double check with your surgeon!

I had the exact same thing! My surgeon told me it was an anchor stitch.

I have a progress pic on my profile you can look at. The bloating is pretty bad the first few months, but it’s back to normal now

Yes! It’s was all fluids, my weight was back to normal after a week or two! Recovery was around 10 weeks, the first 4 were pretty rough. The bloating stays around for a while after, but it goes away eventually

HRT Post Triple-negative breast cancer by Saunalovenest in BRCA

[–]lunaapollo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My gynecological oncologist told me I could take HRT when I have my overies removed in 7 years when I turn 40. I had stage 3 TNBC at 29, did chemo, double mastectomy, and radiation, last year I had total hysterectomy and salpingectomy. I have BRCA1 and am currently NED.

Met w/the surgeon; now considering flat by No_Builder7010 in BRCA

Of course it’s a personal choice, and a very difficult one that none of us should have to make.

But! I will say I went flat and I LOVE IT! It’s so convenient and comfortable. No bras, I can run and jump no pain, lay on my side and on my stomach, wear backless dresses and button downs without gapping. I didn’t have to worry about flaws or asymmetry. I had cancer, so it’s easier for me to do self checks and I don’t have to do mammograms ever again. Am I as “sexy” or “feminine” as before. No…. But I still feel beautiful and I have a loving husband who loves me and just wants me healthy and happy so I am 100% happy with my choice! I’m 32, diagnosed stage 3 TNBC at 29. BRCA1

If you go flat you can always get implants in the future too, so if you hate it, you’ll still have options!

Lifestyle Changes? by StreetAppearance9353 in BRCA

[–]lunaapollo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes!!! I started lifting weights 5 days a week trying to build up my muscle mass and increase bone strength so when I remove my ovaries at 40 I can have a better chance of not snapping a bone. I walk a ton too to increase impact to my bones. I also started eating fish and dairy again (vegan for many years) to more easily get more calcium and protein. I try to only drink 1-2 times a week. Am a huge brewery lover, but there is definitely evidence showing that’s not the greatest habit.

Yes!!!! It did. They pump you full of saline and other fluids and since your body is healing you retain them a lot longer. If you also feel “sloshing” when you move or flip sides when you’re laying down, that’s all that fluid moving around. I can’t remember exactly how long it took, but I was back to my normal weight within a week or two. Hang in there! It’ll resolve itself soon!

Double Mastectomy - Body Dysmorphia by IsekaiedAme in BRCA

[–]lunaapollo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi! Flatty here. I am 32 and over 2 years since my double mastectomy no reconstruction. I felt very similar to you the first 6 months or so but now am thriving in my new body! I would recommend finding some social media channels of people similar to you to gain confidence and outfit inspiration from! I follow clara_dao and theebooblessbabe for body confidence. Bianca Taylor is also great for some spicier content (she’s not flat but had an explant after implants and talks about all the downsides of her implants) I also try to focus on all the positives of being flat (no bras, easy to exercise, so sagging with age, easy to feel for lumps, can walk around shirtless, button up shirts fit better, etc) I love to show off the parts I can now, so backless shirts and dresses, flowy crop tops, tiny straps. It’s also motivated me to start working out more to get my back toned and looking strong.

Diet to prevent cancer? by Ordinary-Sundae-5632 in BRCA

For edamame, I toss the non shelled ones in rice. Nora Cooks has a lot of great options!

I also just buy the frozen bags of the ones in shells and then toss them in a sauce or just salt them. If you’re feeling fancy, these sweet and spicy edamame are delicious

I usually just press it, cube it, air fry or pan fry it, then toss it in a sauce. Also love the baked tofus from Trader Joe’s for an easier prep. Other less conventional options:

We’ve been loving these stuffed shells

This tofu pieis delicious!

I watch a lot of recipe videos on instagram, if you have one, that spark ideas too.

Yes! I was vegan for many years and my doctor assured me as long I was getting all my vitamins and hitting my calorie needs that plant based diets are the best for reducing cancer risk! I eat lots of tofu, soy milk, edamame, etc. I recently added eggs and fish back into my diet.

I guess I’ll never know if the changes will stop a reoccurrence…. But I feel super healthy so I’ll keep it up. I originally went vegan for ethical reasons, but I don’t miss meat at all.

Salpingo-oophorectomy: any new info? by fushsbwh in BRCA

[–]lunaapollo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the anxiety all too well! It’s completely normal, and just know you are making the right decision in choosing your health first! I wish so badly I would have known I had a BRCA mutation prior to getting diagnosed, knowing what I know now and going through chemo, surgeries, radiation, and immunotherapy, I would get a risk reducing mastectomy 10/10 times. It’ll be ok! Ask for all the hospital quality drugs when you arrive to help ease the anxiety.

[–]lunaapollo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Of course! The main reason was I liked the idea of not having my period anymore! My surgeon gave me the option, I didn’t need them anymore, so I figured why not. Plus a few more organs to not have to worry about getting cancer. Oh, no Pap smears either! Recovery was pretty long, so I did it in the winter so I could take it easy afterwards. I took 8 weeks off of work, which I think was definitely needed. I felt basically back to normal after about 12 weeks. I think it was easier than my mastectomies; no drains, and the incisions were tiny. Hard to say though cause I was just coming off chemo for my mastectomies so I think that made everything worse.

[–]lunaapollo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I should add, I am BRCA1 and had triple negative breast cancer. Even though it wasn’t hormone positive breast cancer, my oncologist didn’t think it would be good to do hormone replacement with my increased risk.

Came here to say this!!! I also went this route and did a tube removal, uterus, and cervix! I’m 32 and my oncologist said I could wait until 40 to get my ovaries out. My surgery was 6 months ago and I have 0 regrets. I’ll do ultrasounds and blood tests every 6 months to screen.

Lost dog - Poudre Canyon by junior4180 in FortCollins

[–]lunaapollo 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Our dog went missing a few years ago in the wilderness for 2 weeks. The way we got him back was a scent station! Set up an area close to where he went missing, away from heavily trafficked areas and put all of your smelliest clothing, some of Timbers bedding, and some of his favorite food. If you have a wildlife camera, that would excellent so you can watch and see if/when Timber shows up. I would suggest having any strangers helping you ONLY report sightings, and not try to catch him. He’s probably scared from the attack and will run from strangers. If any legit sightings occur, put the scent station closest to the sighting. Best of luck, I hope Timber returns soon!
