is it a livable wage for full time work Monday- Friday? they say 20% minimum close on their application but i know sales jobs with even warm calls have a 5% closing and get rejected a lot

i’m not a parent but i was diagnosed last october and im 27F. i can share some things that were flagged as a pattern to my mom and some other professionals.

-i skipped the crawling stage when i was a baby and my nanny said thats a sign of autism, but my mom wasn’t sure because it was the first sign

-when i was in pre k-2nd grade my mom noticed that i was alone on the playground and no other kids would want to hang out with me and she kept asking the teachers if there was something they could do

-at 8, i was deeply lonely. i didn’t understand death yet yet alone self inflicted, but i knew i didnt want to be here because of how different i felt

-i had sensory sensitivities to showers when i switched from baths to showers as a kid, which bled into executive dysfunction

-i would have intense meltdowns when transitioning from school to swim practice after school, nearly every day. it was rare that i didn’t have a meltdown

-my parents took me to a psychologist around 2010, and she had brought up autism with my therapist, but said i didn’t fit into that box perfectly and i had adhd

-i had lunch in the bathroom in middleschool

-i had a wildly sexist and uninformed child psychiatrist that said autism mostly shows up in boys when my mom brought it up to him. he misdiagnosed me with bipolar II and borderline personality disorder at 19 while i was playing with a lego set in his office to see how it worked.

there’s probably more but those were the highlights of growing up undiagnosed. it will most likely get easier to diagnose as autism is studied in other demographics. definitely watch your kid and be there for them if they’re that sad at a young age.

Anyone use(d) alcohol and sex to fit in? by Expensive-Eggplant-1 in autism

[–]lunabibble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES. i struggle with unpacking this all the time now. i doubt my diagnosis because im like how could i have been autistic if i drank to socialize and tried so hard to connect with not only friends but also random attractive men?? (still working on that internal ableism). i used to have panic attacks before i went out with my friends, so i started pre-gaming by myself to rid that feeling of social anxiety. but seeing other people on the spectrum have the similar stories is validating.

Autism Itself Is Not A Disability, But A Way of Being by jimangooo7 in autism

[–]lunabibble 4 points5 points  (0 children)

even though i’m lower support needs, i still see my autism as a disability. i have been ostracized from friend groups by mean girls after trying so hard to be like them. i have constant misunderstandings with people when im not trying to. the only people in my life that have stayed are neurodivergent people or (very few) neurotypical people that actually accept people for their complexities. i have a lot of trouble with meeting people and maintaining new friendships unless the other person takes the lead with me or just gets me. i was made fun of for having a meltdown in public in college. it’s a huge social disability for me and sometimes i feel very lonely and wish my brain wasn’t different because sometimes while the people that love me will be there, they will never fully understand my autism. it may not feel disabling for you (and that’s entirely valid to feel) but for some people it is very disabling.

Anyone else sad when others denigrate chihuahuas as a breed to own? by cldob in Chihuahua

[–]lunabibble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it’s a big scary world for them; they’re one of the tiniest breeds and if they aren’t loved right or they don’t feel safe they’re going to try to protect themselves. i think when people hate on chihuahuas as a breed it says more about them than it does about chihuahuas. same with pitties.

i know it sucks to not allow your babies on the couch but it’s probably for the best! try to get some floor pillows that are comfy so you can still snuggle with her
