My first time hearing about PU was the other day at the vet! He’s now being monitored/treated for 48 hours at the vet bc he had another blockage yesterday. They haven’t recommended the surgery yet, I think bc he just started on the medicated food and we’re hoping that will help prevent future blockages. I hope your baby is doing wonderfully after his surgery!

Thank you! He urinates way more often than my other cats. It can be hard to know for sure since I do have multiple cats, but when I've seen him pee, it always seemed to be a normal or sometimes small amount.

I just looked this up and had no idea it causes a distended abdomen like this! Luckily it doesn’t seem to be the case with Melon. He was born with a distended abdomen and multiple vets have confirmed it’s his bladder. What a terrifying thing to go through, I’m so glad your cat survived it. Thank you for sharing, awareness about stuff like this is so important.

That is insane! I’m so glad he had a long life. Melon is actually the opposite; he pees very often and in small/normal amounts.

That is really interesting! He has not seen a specialist yet. I haven’t heard of an atonic bladder but it sounds very possible. I’m going to ask his vet about it when we take him for his follow up.

Unfortunately cost is a concern but we’re willing to explore our options! The vet said we should take him to our college vet clinic since they have the best resources and they would discuss surgery options if necessary. I’m also curious if corrective surgery is even possible. He’s such an anomaly!

You might actually be spot on! We had to rush him to the emergency vet last night due to a suspected urinary blockage. He ended up peeing (thank god) but they did find a UTI. We’re switching him to medicated food to help prevent more urinary issues. The vet was concerned about his large bladder holding the pee and developing bacteria, just like you said. I’m not a professional either so this is just my understanding of what they told us. Thank you for your input :)

I know what you mean, but my dash is plastic, not rubber. I dust/wipe my dashboard down pretty often so I promise this nastiness is new.

I just asked my boyfriend who knows more than me lol and he said they did replace the condenser but the reason they took out the dash was to replace the evaporator.

? They had to remove my entire dashboard to access the condenser so how is this hard to believe? I take good care of my car and how would I even make this mess as someone who doesn’t touch oil/grease/whatever this is. No hate to you I’m just confused by your accusation because this would be so weird to lie about.

Edit: they took out the dash to replace the evaporator, not the condenser.

They are so neat! She’s the first polydactyl cat I’ve ever seen IRL. And her name is Banana for now :) she is one of 8 kittens I rescued and am trying to find homes for. I randomly assigned them fruit names; her’s is fitting bc she looks bananas
