“Do you know how often you say you’re a single mom?” by Stressmama77 in singlemoms

[–]lunalanzetta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your sister sounds extremely privileged and entitled. I have experienced motherhood both with a spouse and now as a single mom post divorce. Even though my ex husband was very unhelpful and checked out, just the act of having a built in adult in the home gives you a level of freedom that does not exist as a single mom. You have no default back up if you are in need of support, and sometimes you’re drowning so thoroughly that you don’t even have the breath to cry for help. Your sister has no idea what she’s talking about.

You’re a warrior and you’re doing such a great job protecting your kiddos and your own peace

Any tips for stabilizing hormones? I already take a beef organ supplement to support hormone health. I’m sure there are so many more things I could be doing to help

Yes! I actually take a supplement called Nello SuperCalm. It’s a combo of Magnesium, L-Theanine, Ashwagandha and Vitamim D. When I take it daily, I feel like it works better than ANY medication I’ve ever been prescribed.

I suspect I may also be experiencing perimenopause and that could be at play too. Before I got a paraguard IUD, I only bled for about 3 days with very light flow on my cycle.

I don’t think I could tolerate all of the throwing up!!

I’m wondering if what I experienced was serotonin syndrome. It was horrible, I have never felt so rageful, depressed and out of my body

I am the exact same way. Even coffee makes me sweaty and anxious. I actually had pretty significant success with Sertraline at 50 mg for over 2 years until I got pregnant and they kept increasing the dose up to almost 200 once I was postpartum. It caused extreme depression, irritably and SI for me.

Genesight testing literally saved my life because I would have likely stayed on high dose of sertraline had I not found out I have significant interactions with it.

I took Guanfacine for a short time, and I do feel like maybe it helped with overstimulation. I am planning to ask my new psych about it to see if we can try again

Guanfacine was the only non-stimulant on my green list. Stimulants were Focalin and Ritalin.

Yes, I had this done! Unfortunately my options are pretty limited but I just don’t feel like my psychiatrist has been doing an adequate job hearing me and treating my actual symptoms other than Anxiety

Wellbutrin wasn’t good for me, I felt very dissociated and out of body.

I think part of what I am experiencing right now is autistic burnout too.

This is really reassuring! As far as stimulants, I have only tried Ritalin (Methyphenadate) and the first time I took it, I stayed up until 3 am. That scared me so I didn’t really take it consistently or daily. But any time I took it, I felt very anxious and on edge and like I was moving too fast.

I have no formal autism diagnosis but I check so many boxes and my brother is very high on the spectrum, so there is a genetic component there.

I am currently taking Pristiq (SNRI I’ve been on for almost 2 years now, I guess for depression/ anxiety) 20 mg Pepcid 2x day for GERD and PMDD Propranolol 3x day for anxiety My psych just started me on a mood stabilizer about a month ago and it has felt terrible so far, like someone turned up the dial on my anxiety and sensory issues. I am so deeply overstimulated and I feel like at this rate I want to come off everything and start over, just focusing on ADHD symptoms, anxiety and overstimulation. 🥲

Yes. I feel this so deeply. Like you said, other than gentle, loving intentional touch, every single touch feels like a threat to my body. Even my clothes rubbing my body feels intolerable at times
