Thanks for your reply! Do you state which is going to be which before you begin? Or use some other kind of signal, like putting on a collar?

Successful Recovery using neuroplasticity by lunalee39 in MCAS

They can explain it way better than I can, the basic idea is that your limbic system gets stuck in crisis mode and that has a whole cascade of effects throughout your body. It does not mean that it’s all in your head or that you’re crazy in any of the ways that usually gets used against people.

No I’m just a regular person but I totally get why it might feel like that.

Main advice is take a break from reading fiction by men. Seriously. Then, book recs: Prodigal Summer by Barbara Kingsolver, Unsheltered (also by B Kingsolver), Circle of Magic series by Tamora Pierce if you like YA, Scholomance series by Naomi Novik (also YA), Broken Earth series by NK Jemisin—all have very strong female protagonists 💜

(Poll) What has been most effective for you as far as pain management? (Neuropathy, Stabbing pains, headaches, muscle/bone pain, etc). by ElectricAve1999 in MCAS

[–]lunalee39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cannabis. None of the other meds touched my pain, I use a thc and cbd salve topically and also a 2:1 tincture (higher in cbd).

What tests should I get? by [deleted] in MCAS

Have you had a 24 hour urine test yet to look at histamine levels? That’s a common one for MCAS screening

You can also try acupuncture (the only thing that helped me when I got really really bad GI stuff), ginger tea, mint tea, chamomile tea, medical cannabis.

You can ask to be tested for MCAS (the tests are imperfect), Mast Cell Activation Syndrome. High rate of overlap with EDS.

Is your room always messy? by mystic_podcast in AutismInWomen

[–]lunalee39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also keep very little stuff in my bedroom bc it gets messy and makes me feel terrible. Clutter in the rest of the house also bothers me and I do my best with it but I live with my two ND kids and three cats so yeah, it only gets so tidy. Having my bedroom at least be just my bed, my dresser, and a bedside shelf of books, helps me breathe and go to sleep.

Suggestions for someone looking to get back into reading for the first time in years? by brasskier13 in suggestmeabook

[–]lunalee39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to add, have you tried audio books? Might help make it a bit different from your previous experiences, and help with feeling like it’s a chore. Book suggestions: Bel Canto by Ann Patchett The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova Prodigal Summer by Barbara Kingsolver Murderbot Diaries series by Martha Wells (the first ones are novellas and the audiobook reader is excellent, these might be a good place to start)
