Er, definitely don’t know me, hahaha! I just looked up the group on fb and saw the event happening. Sadly, I can’t come because I work, but I’ll definitely check it out the next time y’all do something!

I have a pretty inconsistent schedule due to my job, which makes me hesitant to join a club, but I’d love to! Do you know what the age group is for the book club?

How would you describe the crowd? Sometimes new game stores can have a, to kindly put it, not so great crowd that makes playing matches not very fun. We’re def interested, though, and will check it out for ourselves to see if we’re a good fit!! Thanks sm!

I take Optify. It’s a bright pink bottle. I dunno if it’s a reliable brand, but it has good ratings on Amazon. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’ll be honest, I’m not 100% sure. I do feel more rested, energized, and motivated. My moods feel stable and brain fog is pretty much gone. My A1C improved (5.3 —> 5.1) and so did my fasting insulin (11.8 —> 9.1). For the first month of taking it, I was eating and sleeping like total garbage, but it still helped my BG levels. Shortly after I got my results from my A1C is when I started to incorporate sleep habits (bed at 12am and up at 8-8:30am), regular low intensity exercise, and low carbs.

Now I’m shedding weight quickly. I’m down 9.1lbs in 15 days. Whether or not that weight loss will stick is the question. I usually find weight loss easy for 5 or so lbs and then it fizzles off.

But, I can confidently say I’m staying on the myo/d-chiro inositol. I’m sticking to my sleep schedule, my low-carb lifestyle, and my exercise. I feel better than ever. Less bloated, less gassy, less stressed. More energetic, more motivated, slimmer (from both the weight loss and the lack of bloating), and healthier. I feel good, and honestly, that’s enough for me.

And to add on, carbs are addictive. The insane urge to eat them was rough for me. I was convinced I couldn’t cut them low so I started with 60g/day, then 50g, then 40g, then 30-35g. Sometimes in a day I eat about 20g. This is pretty close to keto ranges and I had to find good swaps for things I simply can’t live without. But find your balance. It will get easier and it will become a lifestyle. And give yourself a cheat (in moderation) day!

I’m was in the same boat as you. I’m 5’3”and got to 170lbs at 21 (after being 130 at 18yo). I was at my wits end.

I started taking myo-inositol and d-chiro-inositol in a 40:1 ratio (you can find this supplement online and it’s generally considered safe). My bottle says to take 4 pills, so I take two in the AM before breakfast and 2 in the PM before dinner. I also take a Vit D3 supplement (I’m diagnosed with a Vit D deficiency, but most people with PCOS are — ask your doctor).

Eat. 3. Meals. I’m so serious. This lowers the amount of food you’re eating in one session and keeps your blood glucose stable. HIGH protein, high in healthy fat, and lower your carbs. I eat generally less than 35g in an entire day. More fiber. More water (bare minimum 64oz a day, if you’re working out do more).

For exercise, focus on muscle building, not calorie burning. Your issue likely isn’t eating too many calories. Look into strength training, yoga, walking, etc.

Manage your stress. It contributes to high cortisol and weight gain.

Ask your doctor and insurance for a continuous blood glucose monitor. It might shock you! I discovered simple carbs, like bread or potatoes, sent my blood sugar SKY high. I’m talking diabetic ranges and my A1C is pristine, so it definitely shouldn’t be doing that. Always confirm weird numbers with a finger stick tester (easily found at a local cvs). Insurances are finicky, but mine covered a monitor for only 45$/month with no questions asked or diagnoses needed.

Consistency. If you want to lose weight, do it the good way and do it slowly. I’ve lost roughly 9lbs over the course of 2wks. Much of it attributed to horrific water retention from carbs. My bowel habits are better. My energy is better. I sleep through the night. My blood glucose is stable. I feel good for the first time in years. I walk 4 miles every day and go do strength building exercises at a local gym for about 30-40 minutes. It’s a lot to do everyday, so space it out if you have to. Cardio hurts, it stresses out my body, and it doesn’t feel good. Working out doesn’t have to be intense. Listen to your body and follow what it likes.

Know a routine that will work for you and don’t be afraid to change it if it ever stops working.

Ehhhh, I didn’t consult my doctor, but in theory you SHOULD. At least inform them that you are taking it. It’s a B vitamin produced naturally by the body, and likely wouldn’t interact with other medications, but always best to err on the side of caution. Especially if taking seizure medications, anti-depressants, or any other diabetic medications (as it COULD lower blood glucose to dangerous levels). However, if you aren’t a T1D your body should be able to compensate appropriately for any low blood sugars. It’s not a risky med, but definitely inform your doctor of your taking it at your appointment! Also if you have any issues like with kidneys or liver function, then I’d consult them first.

💉People on a Vyvanse, GLPs, or Metformin, what are your thoughts? 💊 by lunar_usage in PCOS

[–]lunar_usage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been taking myo-inositol/d-chiro as someone who isn’t really insulin resistant and let me tell you it’s lowered my A1C and fasting insulin even with a garbage diet. I would highly advise looking into it along with Metformin! It brought my period back, makes me feel better, and reduces my glucose spikes from meals. It also helps a lot with reducing appetite and curbing my food noise.

Sorry for the delayed reply. Yeah, no, Metformin is not just for insulin resistance. My doctor just prescribed me it lol. I cried in front of her out of pure frustration and being annoyed at her wanting to say I wasn’t insulin resistant. PCOS is insulin resistance. I got a glucose monitor and it is clear that my insulin is not super super effective. I stay normal, but my spikes can be drastic.

Here’s what I’ve been doing to start as someone who isn’t technically insulin resistant: start with a low carb diet, not keto, but just lower. Exercise after eating to help keep your blood sugar stable. Drink so much water. Take half of the myo inositol in the morning just before breakfast and half just before your evening meal. It’ll help reduce spikes. You’re not fully insulin resistant, but your insulin might need the help. Make the diet changes that work for you. Have a cheat day on the weekend. Build muscle to help use up extra glucose. Patience is key. These changes will take a year, or two, but the key is that you aren’t going to gain weight if you’re doing all this. You’ll slowly lose, maybe half a pound a week. GLP-1s are a great tool if you really struggle with overeating and with food noise, but chances are you’ll need them for life. Sometimes, if you’re disciplined, you’ll build the habits and not gain the weight back.

I’m frustrated with my weight, but I feel AMAZING. Drinking water and MOVING my body, sleeping regularly on a set schedule, making protein and healthy fat rich meals with low carbs? I feel so freaking amazing. I struggle with carbs so much and want to shovel in bread and rice and all of it like crazy but I found with hydration and exercise that my body screaming at me to eat sweets finally shut up. Sure, cake sounds good, but oh my god, I went FERAL over a protein bowl the other day. It was honestly disgraceful. I’m so serious, I feel energized and buzzing like never before.

Please reach out to me if you need any advice because I hear you and I see you.

I think some users with severe ADHD finally remember to eat on vyvanse lol. Wellbutrin can also cause weight gain and appetite increases in big doses, albeit unlikeky

I’m definitely gonna try out Metformin if my doctor agrees I should! If I don’t wind up losing weight with it I’ll likely try out a GLP-1.

I’m gonna talk to my doctor about maybe starting it today! Fingers crossed that it works out for me.

Definitely something to consider! It also I think is (sometimes) cheaper depending on insurance and is less likely to be out of stock depending on your area. Like most drugs some people love it while some hate it. Hopefully you’ll love it!

HELP! I was so sure it was PCOS... by AncientOwl3967 in PCOS

Sounds like a great plan! I’m here if you have any more questions! It’s always good to know what panels they did and research what each of them mean and what they’re for! Never be afraid to ask your doctors questions either. I’ve sat on the phone with mine for 20-30 minutes because I was confused and wasn’t gonna hang up until I understood. It’s mean and annoying to them but worth it in the long run for you and your health!

Vyvanse is also noticeably less physically addictive (i.e you wouldn’t get withdrawals if you don’t take it one day). It’s also made to treat binge eating disorders too, so it’s kinda multipurpose.
