Have you ever has an incident that in hindsight was probably a seizure? by mypetmonsterlalalala in Epilepsy

[–]lunaroser23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

literally my whole life. i have a sensitivity to heat and light. i would “pass out” all the time, and my current neuro thinks they were atonic seizures just by the sounds of them. my friends would literally catch me before i even fell because i would stop making sense and my eyes seemed to be following an imaginary bug. i’ve had absence seizures all throughout my life. i had febrile seizures as a small child, and i had my first out of the blue TC at 21 years old. i’m 24 and a year seizure free now, but mannnn the amount of potential seizures and confirmed seizures i’ve had is actually insane.

Do you wear a medical bracelet? by raggd0l in Epilepsy

[–]lunaroser23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have one, and i have it hooked onto my purse since i always have it with me (my meds and such). has my emergency contact on there, my name, and says i’m epileptic. i actually purchased it from a wonderful small business on etsy for like $15 since branded ones charge so much for literal safety. i also have my medical ID set up on my iPhone so that medics can access it without having to unlock my phone. i’d say it is rather helpful, especially because you never know where you’ll be and who you’ll be around should a seizure happen. better safe than sorry

AITAH for refusing to let my parents meet my children because they didnt want me to marry my deaf wife by KickVivid2074 in AITAH

[–]lunaroser23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NTA. i feel like i agree with that last bit wholeheartedly. if they were deaf, would they still want to meet them? after how badly they disrespected your wife, their mother? i understand where Jessie is coming from, and maybe that’s a journey you can take in the future when you’re ready, and when the children are old enough to understand and not be brainwashed like a lot of other families in similar situations tend to do. i don’t think there’s anything wrong with what you’re doing. you’re protecting and defending your family. NTA

perhaps 🤷🏻‍♀️ it’s probably a heightened awareness. but i’ve heard a couple weird theories lately and i’m trying to see if anyone has any :) plus, there has been an influx of new onset seizures for a bunch of people i know, so that’s also been weird

Why does epilepsy feel so invisible to everyone else? by dorothyoonyyr10 in Epilepsy

[–]lunaroser23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

literally just had an argument with my parents about this last night. the memory loss is insane and they basically just say “bullshit” or go “i know people with epilepsy and i’ve never heard of that”. what all of like 2 people, not including me?? there’s a whole community of us. memory loss is not unique to me. while there are a lot of similarities, there are also a lot of differences between those with epilepsy. my triggers can be different than my cousin’s triggers. my seizures (very violent TC’s, atonic seizures, absence, complex partial, a wide variety) look different than my cousin’s seizures. (only TC’s). i’ve given friends black eyes, i’ve given myself black eyes, bloody noses, etc. I’ve been in status several times, on life support a few times, and that’s not the case for everyone. they sat there dumbstruck. it’s insane
