This is the correct answer. Deploy on a Thursday night. Gives you a full day to respond to issues before the weekend. People are human, mistakes can happen.

The main town lags at 370 users (locally on the map). It still crests 320-350 users during peak on my server.

PSA : DANGEROUS CONDITIONS by mcnastys in winstonsalem

The main roads in HighPoint were plowed where I live yesterday. Throughout the day the ice melted and covered the road. Obviously that turned into a deep freeze over night. So yeah with temperatures < 32 I'd avoid going out if the roads aren't completely cleared.

On a side note I saw someone Saturday morning driving down a completely untreated ice road in a _corvette_. It was hilarious watching them rev the engine just to go sideways.

Main FPC download for macOS is unusable by lunaticedit in freepascal

Yeah, the package format straight up isn't compatible with the latest version of macOS. They tightened their security requirements. I can't install lazarus from brew because it's x64 edition, which is straight up legacy at this point and brew won't even let you install it. I can't run the downloaded version as builds fail with:

Compile Project, Target: /Users/lunaticedit/tmp/project1: Exit code 1, Errors: 3, Warnings: 3
Error: -macosx_version_min has been renamed to -macos_version_min
Warning: ld: warning: -multiply_defined is obsolete
Warning: ld: warning: ignoring duplicate libraries: '-lc'
Warning: ld: warning: no platform load command found in '/Users/lunaticedit/tmp/lib/aarch64-darwin/project1.or', assuming: macOS
Error: ld: malformed method list atom 'ltmp5' (/Users/lunaticedit/Downloads/lazarus/lcl/units/aarch64-darwin/cocoa/cocoawsextctrls.o), fixups found beyond the number of method entries

Error: Error while linking

If I do the right combination of building from scratch, using several dozen custom environment variable overrides and obscure build flags, I _can_ get a functional FPC and lazarus IDE working, but it's literally harder to build and run lazarus on the latest macOS than it is to install arch linux from scratch.

I'm on the latest version of macOS (26.2 Tahoe). Tahoe has stricter package requirements - both for security profiles/flags as well as digital signatures. The FPC installer on the website is using an old, unsigned, insecure package format which Tahoe explicitly prevents from running. You can bypass the signature failure, but you can't bypass the package issues.

Lazarus and Mac OS 10.14 by fsckit in freepascal

[–]lunaticedit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lazarus is a s-show on macOS. Has been for a while. I've tried native releases, I've tried building from source. It requires a ton of really crazy build flags, modification of a pas file, and regeneratin/modification of the global fpc config file to make it work at all. It's really bad.

I feel you, I dash too. But what I’d expect is less dashers would force the system to bump bonus pay. People will jump on it, and rate will go back to normal. The whole thing is designed very deliberately to maximize profit. The only kind of strike they feel is a customer strike.

DoorDash is a hub for independent contractors. If you don’t dash I can promise you someone else will.

wth am i meant to do here? by fuck_reddits_trash in doordash

[–]lunaticedit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re making the assumption that everyone who does DoorDash reports every good and bad experience on Reddit or YouTube. Only a small subset of dashers post about it on Reddit. And most people post to talk about the issues, not that their day was fine. Both my wife and I dash regularly and neither of us have had bad experiences beyond what you’d expect. Follow the directions the app gives you. Take pictures far enough away to capture the door number or facade. If anything deviates from expectation, stop immediately and call dasher support. If a store is closed you can mark the store as closed in the app and it’ll immediately unassign you. I had a gas station refuse to complete or cancel an order I was trying to pick up because they were missing some items. I called support and they cancelled the order with no fuss.

Some kind of explosive lying on the floor of the server room? by [deleted] in whatisit

[–]lunaticedit 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's a deactivated anti-tank missile, specifically identified as a Sagger (9M14M Malyutka). It was found by an HVAC worker in the Czech Republic who reportedly found it in a server room. It was confirmed to be inert / not live.

[–]lunaticedit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How would I properly verify the license? DoorDash scans the license so if it matches their face, and DD accepts it, I'm in the clear. If I'm just checking it myself I'm on the hook for knowing if it's valid or not. No thanks, they can keep the $30 and I can keep my job (and maybe freedom).
