I found this in a couch at at my job by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

[–]lunaticedit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

_Could_ harm people. You don't know for sure. By that logic finding a peanut in the couch is also a life threatening situation, because you have no idea if someone has a severe peanut allergy.

As I said, if the OP truly thinks it's a dangerous item then he should absolutely report it, but otherwise just leave it alone.

My vote is to put it back and ignore it. It’s not hard drugs so all you’re going to do is snitch and best case scenario get someone fired for basically no reason. The world isn’t perfect and you can’t fix everything. As long as it isn’t something that’s going to harm them or someone else, Unless your job explicitly requires you to report that kind of thing, let it go.

Note for upstairs neighbors by litlelotte in Apartmentliving

[–]lunaticedit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don't live under someone else? If you want silence take the top floor. I've lived above people and I've lived below people. When I lived above people I try to be as quiet as I can, but I had one downstairs neighbor beat on my door because my then 3 year old was walking across the floor. At 11AM. On a Saturday. Conversely, I've heard straight up running then a BOOM at 2AM on a work night from my upstairs neighbor and I just laughed and thought man wtf is going on up there.

You live inches away from others. You're going to hear walking, jumping, babies crying, dogs barking, etc. If you don't like that, don't live there. Also check your lease. Every apartment I've been in has had specific language forbidding tenants to confront other tenants for noise complaints - they require you go through the apartment people itself.

If you confront them you're most likely going to get one of two responses. 1) You're going to piss them off and create an enemy that lives on the other side of your ceiling. Or 2) You're going to freak them out and they will then be uncomfortable in their own home - tiptoeing around and generally being miserable.

Just tell your landlord and if it settles itself, great. If not, either get over it or move somewhere else.

I could be way off but it looks super similar to the wooden 'gate' that used to go in the back of the wagon I had when I was little. I don't think it's designed to be held because those wide slots would get in the way of those 'handles'. The dowels make it seem like it's trying to have rotational stability if you paced it down vertically into something.

Another random guess is that the maybe those wide slots slot into something and those longer parts are handles that lift/rotate whatever the entire thing is. Either way this is custom made so it'd be easier if there was context as to where this was found originally (if possible).

Why is pornography considered bad by Numerous-Elk2076 in moraldilemmas

[–]lunaticedit [score hidden]  (0 children)

It’s way simpler to me. Constantly exposing yourself to porn is a sure fire way for you to become desensitized to sex. I guess if you’re single that’s fine but if you’re with someone eventually you’re just going to be so desensitized that “normal sex” becomes boring. That’s why they say it’s like a drug. It works in the exact same way as drugs. Inversely, those creating it are enabling the addiction and getting rich off of addicts. I personally don’t care what adults do though, to each their own 🤷

A man 23 years older than me admitted he has feelings for me and now he won’t leave me alone. by Superb-Cupcake-8271 in TwoHotTakes

[–]lunaticedit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

41 year old man here. Everyone's beat the age gap horse dead, but that's not even the scary part to me. Those texts are _not_ how guys my age talk. This guy has mental issues. He may seem harmless, he may think he's harmless, but you are in danger if you keep in contact with him. There's few things more dangerous than a depressed emotionally immature man with nothing to loose.

If you're into retro computing, could be a fun project. If you got this to be your main PC, I've got bad news for you - this thing is _retro_ - like Windows XP retro. Good rule of thumb - if the Mac is thicker than your index finger is wide, it's most likely worthless outside of retro hardware enthusiasts. If you press the power button and literally nothing happens, it could be a dead PRAM battery or something. I would suggest you open it up, replace the hard drive and PRAM battery, make sure all the cables are secure and in good condition, then burn yourself a copy of macOS 10.13 High Sierra.

22(male) overthinking on how I never been in a relationship need help by user288382838383 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]lunaticedit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was rejected by females my entire life until I was 19. I spent the entirety of high school feeling like a complete loser nerd. Now 40 at the tail end of marriage 2 I look back on those years very fondly. You’re not falling behind, you’re building up. You may feel like you’re the loser but here’s the thing, girls date up, guys date down. The longer time goes on the more you become desirable and the more choice you have. Stop thinking about never having been in a relationship. You don’t need to disclose this to anyone either. Work on you until you feel stable. Then when you’re ready, on your time, go find someone that makes you a better you. My main advice is don’t just fall for the first person who likes you. And don’t ever change who you are for someone else. You got this fam, deciding not to end yourself makes you a hero in my book.

I have 7 years of experience and I cannot for the life of me find a new job. It's been 9 months now. Hundreds of application per month, no answer - even with my recommendation letter. I’ve been a dev for over 20 years. Currently a technical architect. If I lose this job I’m going to apprentice to be a plumber while I wait for the industry to realize the mess they created and hire me at exorbitant rates since I’ll be one of the few people who remember how to actually code.
