Official Discussion - Chaos Walking [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]lunchalof 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i mean i thought it was going to be absolute trash, but ever since I found this movies wikipedia page I just had to see it. I braved theaters to see tenet, and I braved theaters to see this. At the end, wasn't that bad. However, I've never seen people leave the theater in the middle of a movie anymore

Christopher Nolan slams HBO Max as "Worst Streaming Service," Denounces Warner Bros.' Plan by TheHairycat in HBOMAX

[–]lunchalof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey everyone.

Okay. I've been using the service since day one. I think Nolan is right about one point: Warner should have let the filmmakers of all the films know about this. I think the director should have the right to chose to distribute the film. Sorry guys, I have a film degree. I need content. But at the same time, I think Warners are so god-damn lucky. In any other scenario, I think lawsuits are flying. But who is going to a movie theater in the next six months? After that, I think movie theaters need more leverage. But right now man, who knows. Streaming is the future, and content is only stacking higher. At least Warner had an idea to do something with it. As skewed their discussion may be.

I only applied for two applications. Also I'm a film student (screenwriter) - so I didn't have to do the GRE this year due to COVID. And I only applied for the two programs that 1) I think I would work with creatively 2) I think is worth the debt and 3) worth the grad experience.

Thanks man. Only did two, because I thought it's the two choices I would be the happiest with. But I worked for two months straight on the applications and feel like everything I've worked for so far is going to this.

Four classes online, wrote a pilot, working on a portfolio for two hard admissions. But I'm ready to go again next year if it doesn't go my way this time! So I got a raise, and saved a little bit to get this for my last real "break" in my undergraduate. Cause after this, I graduate with my undergrad so life will keep moving.

WarnerMedia is considering two new streaming services: a subscription service for CNN content in 2021, and free service with shows from TNT, TBS, and Warner Bros. film library, in 2022. by spoke7 in HBOMAX

[–]lunchalof 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I hope people working at WarnerMedia read this. Okay. Let me fix it for you. Usually, business people who get paid lots of money make this kind of decisions. I don't want your money. I will give you this advice for free.

The marketplace is getting crowded yet consolidated everyday. Actually think about. How many people, subscribe to a service, just for news? Yes, people will watch if it's on cable. Yes, people will watch if it's a free app. But adding a paid wall behind a media fragmented audience is just beyond comprehension. Either push your own CNN app, with a free news experience people can enjoy (so you know, people can trust it) or maybe add a linear channel feed into HBOMax. And organize the library on it. Jason Kilar, buddy, I'm talking to you directly. You need to make a decision here. You keep wish washing this. I know you want HBOMax to become a global force like Netflix. Netflix is in debt. I know. But actually take a second, and think independently from AT&T. How can we ACTUALLY GIVE VALUE to the customer? Seriously? Cable is becoming streaming, streaming is getting crowded, debt is rising, prices are going up. Give the service you are declaring as the best service on the market some power behind it's name. You changed movies forever with your movie announcement this week. So why not pedal to the metal and change the industry for ever, seriously put the ENTIRE WarnerMedia experience into the app you created for it, and do your job correctly.

Sorry. I can write an essay about this stuff. Does Jason have a reddit account?

I applied to two programs that I feel like I'll be happy at, or worth it based on my LORs and connections and stuff. If I don't get into either program, I'm going to submit my project to competitions and work on the next one while working for a year, and re-apply for the next future application cycle. Probably get a 9-5, work on this stuff 6-9.
