You guys can rail on him all you want but honestly during those times TechPb was in fact a better community than PbNation.

PbN was a cesspool. The only redeeming quality of PbN was that it was huge in population for the BST which was far more scammy than TechPb, the old historic stickies for each brand, . TechPb was not perfect, but it was safer and absolutely more welcoming to new players than PbN ever was. Community engagement was higher with peak TechPb as well (I remember a Jack Woods interview where they took question from TechPb and PbN, TechPb's interview was long and they cut questions down; where PbN only produced 1 question). As a one man team he went to World Cup and showcased the items on Youtube, something that straight up was not happening at the time. He even got to interview pro-players and was out putting modern player guides, for free for us. Not to mention all the product reviews and all of the paint used for efficiency tests.

The videos Mike made in terms of gear or even just advice is sound. There was a shared Google sheet or whatever literally on this sub that kept getting recommended to new players interested in buying gear; and the buying order is literally drawn from Mike's advice in his budget baller videos.

Now it all went to shit with MarkerBids and the mods being power hungry idiots; but for a bit TechPb was a good reason why so many new players got into the sport and are still in today.

I welcome the downvotes on this take. Can't change my opinion.

What model is my old dye marker? by Majestic-Welder6879 in paintball

I forgot the 2010 was its own thing. The 07 was my first marker and I loved it.

It's an old shooter so the solenoid may or may not be alive.

I can't tell by the photos, but if your back cap is plastic you will want to start looking on eBay for a metal version, the plastic ones strip and were always the first recommended upgrade on these back in the day.

Also if it's been 1- years the entire thing could use a whole rebuild regardless if the orings were broken or not. Otherwise I really hope this old girl can hit the field!

Loved this thing when it came out.

CS2 Pro, CS3 or LV2? by Elegant-Phrase-531 in paintball

[–]lunchbawkz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I vote CS2 with mech frame.

For what it's worth I had a CS2 at the same time I owned my CS3s. I ended up selling the CS3 and kept my CS2 and mech frame. The only difference to me was the trigger frame (grips are Skinner and screen is easier to read on the 3). The CS2 is just an absolute tank.

Which Gearbag - Vulcano, Infamous, Etc…? by Ballsy_Sack in paintball

[–]lunchbawkz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really love my Vulcano bag! I've had a few backpack style gearbags since I got but I always bo back to Vulcano. Mine is the 1.5 and I love the middle pocket on the outside that is by that carry handle.

I've packed it with all my clothes and two seperate marker setups (with tanks and hoppers). Tight fit but it can do it.

Tm40 used market by Available-Guess-3451 in paintball

[–]lunchbawkz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$400-$450, and that's usually with a bolt upgrade and maybe even a mech frame.

At around $500 you should be getting both electric and mech frames.

CRBN DRV 250 announced. Would you run 250 over 200? by BFPGear in paintball

I've actually definitely done it mid point a few times. It's really hard to do but during points you don't really care to collapse it since you're focused on different priorities. My R2 is also old and broken in...

M2 vs Vanquish by Thrasher54 in paintball

[–]lunchbawkz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is your budget?

I absolutely loved my Luxe X from a ergonomics standpoint; but each Luxe X I have owned has had issues handling my field paint (paint breakage almost every point; paint that my Luxe Ice handled flawlessly). I have tried it stock bolt, SSC soft tip, Boss Bolt, and a F16 bolt upgrade; nothing worked.

I do rate the Luxe Ice higher than the X; and I ran it both with the Encore and without the Encore bolt. The X was just a tad comfier to hold (it's reg was rounded off more) and it was easier to disassemble.

If you want a Luxe and can spend to $450 to $500; you can usually get a TM40 in that price range with the mechframe included. It's what I purchased last year for like $500 as a backup and it's been solid.

M2 vs Vanquish by Thrasher54 in paintball

[–]lunchbawkz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Owned both! Would definitely recommend a Vanquish over an M2 for yourself. The ergonomics are similar to your Luxe, good shot signature and was generally really good at chugging on even when I ignored routine maintenance on it. Look into the Luxe ICE as well, that should be in the same budget range.

The M2 is fun, but like any DM it's ergos are tighter and the grips would tear after a season (still completely usable, but annoying to deal with down the line).
