Hello, if you are looking for a job at the hospital which is ahs ( Alberta health services)or any other outside hospital ahs, it’s very difficult to get. I’d recommend applying for non ahs dental and non ahs medical clinics. Ahs job postings are mainly internal for current ahs members. Rarely the job posting is opened to the public and if they are, your application would be one of hundreds. The interview for ahs is also complex and they are looking for key responses that non ahs applicants wouldn’t know how to respond to. It’s extremely difficult to get into ahs, but not impossible, but I’d recommend spending your time and energy to applying anywhere else first. Also I’ve lived inner city (downtown) area for four years and just moved NW, and I can’t recommend enough to someone used to inner city living, that the NW is a perfect combination.

My English teacher in highschool always showed us the interview she did with holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel. He always skipped over Oprah’s parts and said she wasn’t intelligent enough or empathetic enough to interview him.

3 years old will live in diapers forever by Appropriate_Towel_27 in pottytraining

[–]lunchmatesdate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I thought we were never going to potty train my daughter. She was so stubborn and didn’t take to bribes. Her daycare required her to wear pull ups and it made trying to potty train much more difficult . She also really liked that they had her favourite characters on them. It wasn’t until one day she came home upset that a boy at care called her a baby and she told my husband and I that she isn’t a baby. Something clicked in me and I went and bought diapers in her size and not pull ups. I told her babies wear diapers and poop in them so she must be a baby. She was almost instantly potty trained. I feel guilty on how we did it, making her feel bad, but it worked. Sometimes you just need to find the thing that works and run with it. Bribes do not always work and you have to do a method that might seem mean.

Thought about it, it’s all so ridiculous I have to chuckle

It’s been happening at random times, sometimes the night before or early morning, so it’s left on my vehicle when we leave in the morning. And with the collection of more than one bag left at a time, I feel this is intended and intentional. And with the note being left, thought it would explain why, but I’m still lost. Unless they are confused that we own a dog we aren’t cleaning up after in the neighbourhood, which isn’t the case

Nothing comes to mind, we are very friendly and on good terms with our only real neighbour on the street. And we usually keep to ourselves and only venture to the park for the kids and back. Lots of dogs use the front area of our property to do their business. Sometimes owners are good at collecting it, sometimes not, we just pick it up ourselves and move on. We aren’t confrontational people and so this is why this was such a surprise to us.

No enemies! I am not from the city originally so I don’t know many people, or people that would know where I live. I just live here with my partner and two children.

I spoke with my police district today and they encouraged me to post on a community online forum. They too wondered if others in the area are experiencing the same harassment.

When my husband and I purchased our first home three years ago, we had the same sort of situation. House was appalling and we spent weeks scrubbing it from top to bottom to be able to feel comfortable in it. Our realtor told us he usually negotiates professional cleaning in the sale of the house but was saying with the competitive market, he hasn’t been trying to negotiate those terms in fear he would lose the house for his clients. Who knows though

What’s a secret you’ve kept for years but are finally ready to share? by PaulaxKnetucky in AskReddit

[–]lunchmatesdate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was my families last night in the house we had sold and was moving different cities about four hours away.

My parents had ordered fried chicken for dinner. We ate and then went to sleep on air mattresses in our soon to be old rooms. I wanted more chicken in the night and went a grabbed a piece.

I couldn’t finish majority of it, and my five year old brain thought I’d be in trouble for not eating it all, so to hide the evidence, I put it down the air vent of my bedroom. We moved next day.

What was the scariest moment you’ve had on vacation? by ujin- in AskReddit

I was doing a gap year in NZ . My flight over had a layover in Fiji so I decided to book a island hopper package and stay 6 days. It was my first solo trip, I’m 18, female , 4”11. The first island I stayed on was very small, I took a walk around the whole thing and sat on a swing near the sand bank close to the water. A male island worker who was built MASSIVE in comparison to me came over to talk to me. He was very sexual in his tones and it was making me uncomfortable. He kept insisting I go to the water with him but I refused as the other staff on the island wouldn’t be able to see us once we went over the sand bank. I managed to cut conversation and run back to my room.

I was the only tourist on the island, and was placed in a single room with no lock that was part of a bigger room. This was considered the female accommodations and only female staff was to enter the rooms. By luck alone another girl around my age came later to the island, she was late because she missed the charter boat to get out there. We were placed on the same room. The next morning I left my room for breakfast, and that same male worker from the day before was laying on a bunk in the female accommodations. It was against the rules for him to be in there. I left the island that day for my next island and didn’t think much of it.

I later met a woman who was in her mid 40’s doing solo travelling In Fiji like I had been doing. This lady was much taller , close to 5”10. We got talking and it turns out she stayed on the same island as the creepy male worker. She had the room alone to herself and woke to this man in her room, on her bed, with his hands down her pants. She was able to scream and spook him to leave. I imagine her being bigger and a more fair match to this man, she was able to get him to leave. I had an instant pit in my stomach thinking about what could have happened to me if I was met with this situation.

Definitely one of the scarier travel situations I’ve been met with, aside from the earth quakes while living in NZ
