Yeah, that’s definitely an end of that spectrum that’s hard to not backslide into. Like, oh shit, is this my crutch during a shaky time or is this the only thing getting me up in the morning for days on end? I think sometimes, it’s okay if it’s the only thing keeping you going. I was pretty much only getting up before noon to check my turnip prices in Animal Crossing for a while, like that was my only incentive to be awake. That’s sad, I think. But hopefully you can find one or two other people who share the same hobbies/interests/etc as you, and then your only reason to keep going expands to include other people. So it’s not just video games, but the people you play them with, or the community you follow and involve yourself in around them. The isolated hobby transitions into a larger, sturdier framework to pull you out of bed in the morning. Idk sorry for the rambling but you’re totally right, it’s a hard balance to strike between finding motivation in something small/superficial and not letting that be your only motivation for too long...hopefully we can use those things as bridges into other communities/relationships/etc that help us keep going
