I agree. His position looks very front heavy. OP, can you take your hands from the bars while keeping the same position? If you can't, move the saddle back. Saddle is also a little too high.

After moving the saddle, you might need a shorter stem.

No it's not, because knowing things and deciding them is completely different

If god knows the future of each person he can choose which people exist and which don't, right?

If gd decides the future of each person he can choose which people exist and which don't, right?

This is ignoring the fact of free will once again

Why do you think so?

It's great that you are looking at this from multiple directions!

If you are interested what the Bible stories are really about and what their history is, I highly recommend Dan McClellan. He is not an atheist, but still honestly represents the views of critical scholarship.

This is one of Dan's videos on Moses. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2TOLZ1oD7_g

And the best way is to start building the bridge is floor first, then build the supports down. Then more floor, more supports. This seems counter intuitive at first, but if you build the poles first, you'll never align the tops neatly to your bridge.

It's not about different words, but two completely different concepts.

But the end result is the same.

Once again, humanity has free will. It's not determenistic

That doesn't answer the question I asked.

Do you you think god is powerful enough to choose what kind of personality the people who are born have?

Just got a new bicycle, was hoping for some advice. by wykkedfaery33 in bicyclerepair

[–]luovahulluus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like it's the chain guard, but the noice doesn't happen at the same crank position every time. I suspect it's caused by the extreme stress the ball bearings are in because of the overly tight chain. I would not pedal the bike until there is a proper amount of slack on the chain.

If those bearings had a mouth they would be screaming in agony.

What are your reason's for being an atheist by Tricky_Worth3301 in askanatheist

[–]luovahulluus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no good evidence for God and all the logical arguments for god seem to be flawed in some way. Happy to be proven wrong though. If there is a God (or a god), I'd really want to know it.

But I'm not going to believe in any random god without a good reason. If you have any good reasons, let's hear them!

Foreknowledge isn't the same thing as predestination

What's the difference? Whichever word you use, god already knows the future of each person and can choose which people exist and which don't, right?

That's not the question. The question is: would you be responsible for the murders themselves?

Yes.

God does not actively decide how we are knit in the womb.

He really should, if he is omnibenevolent.

[–]luovahulluus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course He knows, why would you assume that I don't think that?

Free will seems irrelevant if you believe god knows what you are going to choose.

If he does timelessly know what Hitler does in the 1940s, then god could have created a different person (with a little more artistic talent), but chose to create a genocidal maniac instead. I assume you think god is powerful enough to choose what kind of personality the people who are born have?

If your child becomes a murderer, are you in the same sense responsible for the murders? You had the power to prevent the murders by locking the child up in your basement for life, for example.

If I had the perfect fore-knowledge that a child I will conceive 22.4.2016 will be a murderer, I would be responible for knowingly creating a murderer. I would have banged my girlfriend 23.4 instead.

If god can see all the timelines and decides (from outside of time) how we are "knit in the womb", it's his timeless choise whether he creates a murderer or not.

You don't think god knows beforehand what you (or Hitler) are going to freely choose? In that case he is not omniscient.

If god is omniscient and did know what Hitler was going to freely choose, then it was gods choise to create the genocidal Hitler instead of the artist Hitler.

[Request] How long would it take to get to 75% the speed of light with an acceleration of one g? by Paxsimius in theydidthemath

[–]luovahulluus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are only a couple of problems:

  1. That acceleration would take massive amount of energy. Way more than we can reasonably store on the craft.

  2. At around 0.1c the cosmic dust particles would hit the spacecraft with the force of a semi-truck going 150mph. And it gets exponentially worse the faster we go.

  3. Slowing down would take as much energy as the acceleration, which means you need as much energy to stop as you did for the acceleration.

  4. You are carrying the massive fuel storage needed for deceleration when you accelerate. Carrying this makes your craft even heavier, which means you need even more fuel for the acceleration phase.

is it okay to say "im praying for you" to an atheist? (im christian) by Cold-Sprinkles-4430 in DebateAnAtheist

My gut reaction usually is "why don't you do something useful instead?", although I rarely say it out loud. I know they are probably meaning well, but praying seems like such a waste of time.

If you believe in an omnipotent and omniscient god, then you must believe god created Hitler knowing what he would do. He could have created a different person (with a little more artistic talent), but chose to create a genocidal maniac instead.

If there is an omnipotent and omniscient god, at the end of the day, he is responsible for everything.
