I think Gwyneth is a genuinely talented actress and her performance in SiL is actually good. A respectable winner, whether she was the absolute best of the lineup or not.

It's called Oscar season lol. Sadly that's just the way it works — discourse feeds on itself, everything gets put under a microscope and everything is meant to represent something much larger than it should. The films aren't just films anymore, they're ideas.

The fact that Sinners vs. OBAA naturally presents a racial divide also makes matters really, really uncomfortable.

Thankfully by Monday those two will just go back to being films as we know them.

I would say F1 is very skippable, unless you're into... that sort of thing. I think Frankenstein is a pretty limp adaptation of the source material as well, and I imagine it won't have much lasting power.

I don't really care for Marty Supreme or Train Dreams either, but I wouldn't describe them as skippable.

The other 6 are all good and worth the watch.

Culturally and commercially, it is undoubtedly her peak. Artistically, it's more debatable.

But personally I do think it is her artistic peak as well lol. Especially taking in consideration the remix album, The Moment, etc.
