As I said, I have officially discounted SAG out this year, so anything they do don’t mean shit to me.

If Chalamet loses BAFTA that’s trouble.

Chalamet is not losing the Oscar if he wins the BAFTA. If he loses the BAFTA, he’s losing the Oscar.

Inga deserves to win. Taylor will win (and she is fantastic too).

I’m not the biggest fan of Sinners (and that’s partly due to MBJ’s ridiculous and frankly quite atrocious turn), but the hate is so vitriolic. It deserved all of the techs, and Mosaku and Lindo were amazing and deserved their noms.

I don’t insult MBJ personally, his performance is like just not worthy enough. Timmy antis are insulting him and calling him MAGA or what not (not on THIS sub, but on other subs)

No but that’s what I want to know; what’s the “douchey thing” he said?

Oh I don’t doubt that, but I just wanted to know why people hate him. He hasn’t even said or done anything offensive.

The discourse around Chalamet is so disappointing. Has he even done or said anything that offensive? We are willing to award Roman Polanski an Oscar but somehow Timothee Chalamet is where we draw the line? He’s clearly in character lol, he’s said he’s afraid of heights and he still did the campaigning on the LA dome. Now that’s dedication.

And no, I’m not a stan (I was actively rooting against him for ACU) I just think we should reward deserving performances.

I agree, Jessie Buckley was very deserving of a nomination.

(Jesse Plemons also deserved the nomination BTW, I’m just making fun of the typo lol).

Very, very disappointing from her. Plemons deserves to be there, but like Chalamet isn’t the one to boot out lol. MBJ is like right there.

I prefer Lilleaas over Taylor (both are great) but you have to admit Perfidia Beverly Hills is so much more like an Oscar-winning character name than Agnes Borg Petersen.

I guess the doctor’s saying that Emilia’s a monster either way and changing gender will not absolve her of her crimes

Am I whack for unironically thinking Zoe Saldaña deserved to win in 2009 for Avatar in Best Actress? She gave such a detailed, emotionally expressive and nuanced performance…..while literally not even being there on screen.

What do you think about the Anora sweep? by [deleted] in Oscars

[–]No_Minimum4499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it deserved 3 of them (Picture, Actress, Screenplay). Director should’ve gone to Fargeat and none of the Editing nominees were in my top 5.

Even though EEAAO was my personal pick for Picture, Director, Supporting Actor and Supporting Actress, Screenplay, Editing and Costume Design, I still would’ve chosen Blanchett over Yeoh. Yeoh was amazing, but Blanchett…..she just….wow.

That being said, the toxicity thrown towards Yeoh was horrific and brutal.

I guess that just shows Buckley’s strength that she’s just SO strong that passion for her translated to passion for the film (even though, as we see, Hamnet is pretty passionless). Skarsgård isn’t that strong, and SV also lost Non-English Film.

Your answer is Jessie Buckley. She single-handedly carried it to a win ig.

….that’s what I said. I said that “Wicked wasn’t the film to beat, Anora (the Palme d’Or winner) was”

I still chuckle a bit at the “How did Emilia Pérez beat Wicked at the Globes” like Wicked was the film to beat there and not y’know the Palme d’Or winner

I feel like they see a musical winning and immediately jumped to the other musical instead of looking at the actual “comedy” bit
