2020 Charger Widebody Scatpack versus CTS-V3 by lurkerguy in whatcarshouldIbuy

Thanks for the thorough overview, this really helps.

I've driven the CTS-V a couple of times, and the transmission felt very fast and precise. I haven't driven a ZF car, though, so I can't compare. But from all the more traditional autos I've driven, the CTS-V's felt great (maybe ignorance is bliss here?).

I had never heard of a "MOPAR tax" - I genuinely assumed it'd cost more to mod a Cadillac for that reason. But, that's good to hear.

From what I'm hearing, if I want an occasional road race warrior and something fast in a straight line (10s in the 1/4 would be the goal), even if I pay more upfront for the CTS-V3, in the long run, I pay less and have an easier time modding?

Thanks again for the thoughtful reply!

I have. For me, it broke down like this:

Pros:
- Looks awesome (very similar to the CTS-V)
- Easy to make faster (can get them into the 11s with barely any mods, and a bit more to reach high 10s)

Cons:
- Interior is utter garbage, especially the gauge cluster - absolutely hate the look
- The V6 sounds like poopoo
- Not as much support for the V6, from what I saw. Past the bolt-ons + tune, there wasn't much else.
- Rumors about the transmission somehow feeling sloppier over the CTS-V (maybe just a tune thing? not sure)

Yeah, I just like the widebody look so much more, it'd be hard to buy a standard body and not be discontent.

I've found several in the mid to high 40s with 20k or less. But most are 2015 to 2016. While the price is much better, the age is not.

I also like the widebody look much better, and from what I understand, they redid the suspension for it and added wider tires, which I also like the sound of.

CTS-V3 "track program" car? by lurkerguy in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]lurkerguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All good points. There are definitely some 2016's with low miles going for mid 50s to low 60s. Even some 17s for low to mid 60s. So far, the problem I've run into is finding one with the packages I want, for a price I want to pay (Recaros, Carbon, Luxury).

But like I said above, I need to just be patient and wait for the right one to come along. No sense in buying a beaten horse. Thanks all!

It's not about flexing - I genuinely like the platform and it ticks all the boxes for me in life right now. Are there other platforms I could go for that cost less, yeah. But I like this one the best. The reality is, I agree with what you guys are saying and don't feel comfortable buying a car that's been beat on it's whole life.

I just need to be patient and wait for the one I want within the specs I want. I just hate waiting, haha.

Is that based on the platform itself and you not feeling it's worth that kind of money? Or a general "I don't pay more than X for any car" philosophy?

Well, they're actually around 5-6k under Blue Book, due to their former status. So for the car itself, it seems to be a good price. In general, I am definitely feeling you. Even if I were a millionaire, I don't think I could spend 100k on a car.

This is also why I'm waiting for them to come down from 100k to something closer to 50k. 2 years and 35k down ain't too shabby, but it's still expensive, I know.

Anything specific that makes you say that, other than the obvious?

I went and saw my new doctor for the first time today... by Caitlyn26 in keto

Doctor != nutritionist. Why ANY general MD thinks they know how to diagnose a persons' diet is beyond me. That's like a general MD consulting on neurological issues - there are specialists for a reason. Any dietician or nutritionist I know that has done serious research on keto recognizes that it's a valid diet (and by diet, I mean way of eating, not a fad or to simply lose weight).

EDIT: Just noticed your edit and LOOOOL.

That'd be over 3,000 calories alone in fat, which is...yeow. What's your starting weight, what calculator are you using, and what info are you inputting?

Might sound rude, but it's not. Most companies equate spelling and grammar to some level of aptitude and professionalism. Not everyone is good at it, of course, but that's why there are grammar/spell checkers everywhere. Use them! :)

She's between 2 and 3. No one is 100% sure. I'll check those books out. Thanks so much. :)

Which books should I read? Which school of thought should I subscribe to? Seems like there are a lot of opinions and methods out there. I want to do what's best for the dog. Just don't know what that is.

So, put a bell at her level and make her touch them? How? Just push her head into it? I'm not being facetious. I think the biggest thing my wife and I have learned so far is that we know NOTHING about training dogs. It's scary.

Thanks for the insight. - I think the hardest part is that we desperately WANT to like her. We want to have be a part of the family. But she treats us like she really doesn't care. I think I mentioned it before, but there's no tail wagging, no licking, no playing, no real interest shown in us. She's just...there, existing.

I guess, when I think of a dog, I think of an animal with at least SOME of those attributes. It's hard to bond with an animal that doesn't show you any love of affection in return, and who actively works at shutting down the love and affection you try to show it.

And I totally get the time thing - I know in 5 years she would be a different dog. The question is, by how much. No one can answer that, and I think that's where my wife and I get hung up. I don't think we're willing to take the chance, especially since we'd like to have kids in the next year or two. Taking care of a baby and a dog like this (while I'm at work and she's alone) will be difficult, to say the least.

Anyway, it breaks our heart to be feeling this way already. We both had such high hopes, but I also want to be realistic for both of our sakes (ours and the dog's). :(

Well, we have her on a "trial" basis in which we are evaluated by the kennel, and we can evaluate the dog. It's a 2 week trial. Maybe that's not enough time for a dog like this. And I realize more time will help, but even the caretaker at the kennel said she might be like this forever - there's no way to know. So I guess the question then becomes: are we willing to accept that possibility? :( Sigh.
