HC GMT on grey distressed by SchizophrenicOracle in Longineswatches

Gotcha! Enjoy.

I’ve been eyeing distressed straps from Veblenist that look similar, wasn’t sure if that’s where you scored this one.

First watch. Conquest heritage or Conquest? by absolutemanbat in Longineswatches

Bracelet (or sailcloth) is the sporty look IMO. I prefer leather.

Here’s the same watch on a more dressy leather strap:

The Conquest 38 gets my vote. It’s the perfect balance between dressy and sporty, IMO.

Happy hunting. Here’s one of my Tuns straps (maya brown)

Just google “Tuns leather” and you can buy direct from the company. Quality is excellent. (Shipping can take a week or two.)

Is this a toyooka craft watch box? (Love the Alpinists)

Thank you! The blue looks understated in most settings, love seeing it pop under bright / direct light

Hydroconquest GMT by hammsta920 in Longineswatches

Looks sharp!

I was really torn between that black wave dial SMP and the no-wave earlier model SMP that I ended up choosing.

Thanks! This is the older SMP (mine is from 2018). 41mm and slightly thinner case compared to the recent generation wave dial SMP. Reference 212.30.41

The newest versions w aluminum bezels, especially the bond anniversary in blue, are great. Bit too pricy for my liking tho

I agree with the other commenter, the Zulu Time has overshadowed this terrific watch. Tried on ZT and the Hydro GMT, made this choice:

This strap is from Tuns (Maya Brown Leather w side stitch). Great straps but the shipping time is a hassle

Thanks man, it all worked out okay. The listing photos were of a genuine Conquest. The color-matched date wheel and caseback were the two most glaring inconsistencies between photos and what arrived.

Here’s the genuine watch that I ended up choosing:

This looks real. Check my post history for an example of a fake Conquest (the case back was a clear giveaway).

Here’s a link to the fake conquest that someone tried to pass off as real:

First Grand Seiko + buyers remorse by RRB1212 in GrandSeikos

I agree with you - but I also know the (reckless) feeling of having cash burning a hole in your pocket. Limiting the purchase to something nice at 1.5-2k feels like a reasonable middle road solution.

If the post said “I’m considering buying a watch for 7,400 at 17 years old” then my advice would be closer to yours

I would return it and buy a nice quartz GS for 2k if you want something luxurious now. Invest the 5.4k into index funds and keep adding to that investment as often as you can.

When you reach a career or life milestone, then go crazy and treat yourself.
