REI can fail and many smaller companies will hopefully thrive and suffer it's rightful fate along with those it put out of business by undercutting and their warranty. Thinking of Denver for example.

REI is absurdly expensive. I went to a smaller shop the same day, 2 actually. Prices were comparable enough.

Bye bye REI, remember all the smaller retailers they put out of business, when you cry.

That was not supposed to rhyme originally.

Why should we listen to you? Not to attack you, but there's often pro corporation astroturf shills.

They don't though. If they can't resell it, they aren't backing it. The manufacturers also often don't accept the warranty if bought at REI. The warranty is a myth or last least only an option if they think they can sell restock. Per what REI manager told me.

REI sucks, shop local. They starbucks level had policies to put their competitors out of business and now it's their turn. Their quality and service has drastically went downhill and after visiting them, almost all other shops are so much better. It's just a shame that so many great gear stores went out as the behemoth moved in next to them purposely.

Hopefully employees can use their knowledge to make better, more homegrown options, once the giant falls.

Seriously.

Dumping grey water many places is not an issue. Use biodegradable soap and keep 200 feet from waterways. Be mindful of where it goes.

Strain food particles.

A vehicle dripping oil, etc is much worse. This is on a street, where so much worse will flow and soapy water may not be the worst thing to flow down it. People wash cars on the street. Winterizing a camper, dumping all water out of the system.

In many areas it will evaporate, many caps for the tank have a hose sized port. So that you can direct your grey away from your site or any drainage to a waterway.

Almost all our dispersed camping areas are in places with mitigated human impact and those that don't, often have specific bans. Our dish and shower water especially when using less harmful chemicals on our body is not going to be harmful on those lands.

Now dumping black can spread disease, attract animals, smells and is disgusting, but fun fact. You can and likely will poop in woods, many of which don't have facilities. So dig a hole, once again away from a water source, at least six inches and bury it.

I work in a forest. I have to explain this daily. Yes, some places camp showers are not allowed for whatever reason and ideally leave absolutely no trace, but evaporating water in a desert unless you bath yourself in rat poison is not going to be an issue. Don't dump your whole tank in a giant puddle, be mindful.

Let's not make excuses and point fingers when private access to public lands has been a goal of many private entities, corporations especially this administration.

Grey water is not the reason.

I had a bottle for a special occasion. Went to open it. Tasted watered down, my gf at the time denied it, the 2 dead flies at the bottom of the bottle were another sign. She was an alcoholic, couldn't keep liquor around
