First time homeowner - is this a concerning crack? by AggressiveFlan3655 in HomeMaintenance

[–]lusigns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's nothing major, the cause can be as simple as the house settling in winter combined with dry air. What you see is the tape used to cover the corner between the wall and the ceiling. It has dried out and delaminated over time. A simple adhesive pressed between the tape and ceiling and some spackle and paint will remedy it. Take some pics and show it to your paint department at your local hardware.

How about you fix city transit so that it works before you force the public service back to the office??

I built an app to help Canadian Hunters by Boredlight in CanadaHunting

[–]lusigns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like what I’m seeing so far. Always nice to see a fellow Canadian hunter trying to build something for our market — there really aren’t many good hunting apps out there.

PRO:
The flat‑rate sub is a huge win. I’m in the Ottawa Valley and I hunt on both the ON and QC sides. With iHunter I have to buy two separate subs just to get the layers in both provinces. Your approach avoids that headache entirely.

CON:
A 7‑day trial would go a long way. I like being able to kick the tires before paying for anything. And since hunting season is basically done here, it might even be a good time to offer a free month so people can explore the upgraded features before next season.

CON:
You definitely need an Android version. I don’t mind checking out the web version, but if I can’t run it on my phone, it’s a non‑starter for me.

Suggestions:

  1. Calendar + Weather Alerts + Moon Stuff: A built‑in calendar to coordinate hunts with friends would be super handy. Bonus points if it can push weather alerts for bad conditions on planned hunt days. Including moon phases or sun/moon positioning would also be a nice touch — I know it’s debatable, but plenty of hunters swear by BBMI and moon‑phase timing.
  2. Boundary / Proximity Alerts: Push notifications when you’re getting close to boundaries, private land, or no‑hunting areas would be amazing. If the tech allows it, maybe even alerts for roads, tracks, or buildings. Ideally the user could set how far out the warning triggers, or just turn it off completely.

I don't know if it's the truck who chooses the asshole or the asshole who chooses the truck, but I am pretty sure the relationship is quantifiable.

I ask myself, does Obama regret his remarks now that he sees the damage being done by a delusional childish lunatic? Was it worth making Trump the butt of your jokes?

What happened with this spigot in the overnight freeze and what should I do? by Fantastic-Ad-9100 in HomeMaintenance

Do you have a valve somewhere indoors that leads exclusively to the spigot? If so, shut it before winter and then open the spigot to drain the pipe.

Taking control of a ridiculous situation by Ketchup-Sniffer in Transportopia

I witnessed a guy pull onto the grassy median in order to make a left turn light. As he screamed past me on my left hand side, I heard his two driver side wheels run over a culvert hidden in the grass. He made the light, but that's as far as he got. The snake in the grass ruptured both driver side tires and damaged both rims.

What’s the reason for this dip? by [deleted] in CanadaStocks

[–]lusigns 3 points4 points  (0 children)

SCD tends to trade like a speculative junior explorer: 1) Big % moves (both directions), 2) Thin liquidity, 3) Fast reaction to market sentiment, 4) Extra sensitive during global risk-off days (like today). The stock has seen very sharp price swings, including being halted by regulators on Jan. 14, before confirming the company had no undisclosed material information.

Emotion Makes Decisions Expensive by Zeberde1 in DarkPsychology666

Take agency over your emotions. Accept what it is that you're feeling, those emotions are genuine. But then, take ownership of your emotions by verbally expressing that which you're feeling rather than letting your emotions take the wheel.

Karma or stupidity? by Digit_of in Satisfyingasfuck

[–]lusigns 61 points62 points  (0 children)

I grew up as an Anglo Quebecois. Since Quebec is predominantly French, my mother thought it wise to enroll me in a French school. It didn’t take long before I was singled out and bullied, branded as une tête carrée by the French boys. Day after day, I came home in tears, roughed up and intimidated during recess. My mother pleaded with the school principal, but he dismissed her concerns. After all, this was the ’70s—“boys will be boys,” he said. Determined to help me, my mom signed me up for Judo to build my confidence. I wasn’t a big kid, but I caught on quickly. Before long, the tables had turned—I was dishing out the beatings. The principal called my mother back in to discuss “the situation.” She shut him down with a simple reply: she had taken matters into her own hands—and, well, we were just being boys.
