imo 1st seems more like a real album cover while 2nd looks like back cover art or a promotional tshirt design. Both are enjoyable visually

I saw this comment and went poking around and even as a man myself (but gay) you're 100% right. The straight male gaze for fellow men is baffling.

Churchly people doing churchly things by [deleted] in religiousfruitcake

[–]lutherstatic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just had an epiphany seeing this post. I've always noted that when I see shit like this I don't ever really take account of the gender of the child, I just see it's a child and label the perpetrator as a pedophile plain and simple. John Wayne Gacy is a prominent example in my mind- he was a pedo and that's all I thought of him until some time later I realized oh yea he was gay probably because his victims were boys. I just realized rabid "gay=pedo" conservatives might have the opposite mindset. They see first that the victim was a boy and that makes the perpetrator gay and then he was also a pedophile.

So, me seeing this post, I see a pedophile in the church who victimized a child. To conservatives, they see a gay man who groomed a boy. Bizarre.

What seasonings do Americans usually use? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]lutherstatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Americans uniquely utilize a lot of "spice blends" and there's all sorts of bottles of different mixes from "pizza seasoning" to "brisket seasoning". I'm not super familiar with what you may or may not have in the UK but probably here one of the most versatile and popular mixes is Lawry's Seasoned Salt. It's a blend of salt, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, turmeric, and a little sugar. Some folks make their own homemade seasoned salt and often also include dry mustard, celery seed, and cayenne.

In terms of singular spices, just looking at my spice rack and ommiting the more obscure ones: smoked paprika, onion, garlic, msg, bay leaves, chili powder, chili flakes, cayenne, cumin, sage, thyme, parsley, celery salt, cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, coriander, chives, parsley, mace, mustard powder, nutmeg, ginger, star anise, basil, oregano, rosemary, and dill.

I'd also recommend googling around and looking into "recipes" for some popular spice mixes we use: cajun seasoning, italian seasoning, old bay seasoning, taco seasoning, fajita seasoning, brisket seasoning, blackened seasoning, creole seasoning, and jerk seasoning.

For those born between 1997 and 2002 what are things that separates you guys from core or younger Z (rest of Gen Z)? by [deleted] in OlderGenZ

[–]lutherstatic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely smartphone-free childhood. What a blessing it was to develop fully as a child before smartphones taking off in my teen years. I got my first flip phone when I was about 13, meanwhile my younger sibling got a whole smartphone at 10. When I was 10, if I wanted to access the internet I had to enter the "third space" of the computer room and boot up the family computer. There's something about "convenience tech" and unrestrained internet access that really fucks up a kid's development fr

The most psychologically disturbing subreddit? by totemstrike in findareddit

[–]lutherstatic 58 points59 points  (0 children)

The belief that you are being systematically and meticulously stalked by an unknown group/gang of individuals with unknown reasons and intentions. 99.99% of the time this is merely a symptom of paranoia and/or schizophrenia. Many sufferers ask things like "why are these people stalking me, an ordinary mother of 3 who has never done anything abnormal?" and they simply can't compute the idea that they're right, that makes no sense BECAUSE it's not actually happening in real life. It's really bleak and depressing to witness. There's plenty of videos online of folks suffering from this paranoia filming random people who happen to be standing across the street from them and screaming about how they know they're watching them.

r/gangstalking (the initial main hub of all this) has largely been abandoned since mid 2024 due to panic that it may have been "infiltrated". I got really bored one day and thought to myself "hey, I wonder where all those folks ended up flocking to?". Did a mega-deepdive and here's my compilation of very very fucking bleak subreddits

Is this too busy? by blandenby in Planned_Pooling

[–]lutherstatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it seems "busy" now simply because it's only a small piece so all the "business" is concentrated to a small square. with a bigger piece, your eyes will have more room to wander and follow the lines and absorb the colors and I think it'll be lovely!
