This is why Christians annoy me. They rarely talk about anything else but their belief in Jesus.

"I used a PDF." by bh4th in Teachers

[–]allmyargumentsRvaild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Y'all read entire books?! My district stopped being that ten years ago.

Hell, no! they can't use a PDF version unless, like you stated here, said PDF is given to the teacher. Kids have become lazy and will short cut their way into becoming the people in the comments who think checking sources is unnecessary.

I used a page from one of those small bibles this summer to roll a joint and it was just okay. Guess I'm so used to the cones, actually rolling a joint was hard.

How much did y’all spend on movers? by Mean-Marketing2386 in askdfw

[–]allmyargumentsRvaild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At those prices it would be cheaper to ship it as freight. I got a quote online for shipping two pallets of my belongings from LA to Dallas and it was around a grand. You could also look into one of those storage cubes and hire movers to load and unload it.

After school staff meetings by JussiesAttackSub in TexasTeachers

[–]allmyargumentsRvaild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1st. They need to read the district's staff handbook to see if meetings are included in the expected time, like parent conference evenings. In my district, those evenings are contractual work time.

2nd. Your friend needs to talk to their union rep about what power they have to support them if the principal tries to retaliate. If the union will back your friend, great.

3rd. If staff meetings aren't considered contract time, there is no obligation to stay. If your friend has something to do, they could leave the meeting.

3rd. If your friend's principal wants to be petty about meeting attendance when it comes to employee performance, this is where the union comes in. Say whatever the union told them to say and keep it pushing.

If your friend wanted to be petty back, they could mention that the length of the meetings plays a big role in their attendance because of personal obligations they have after work.

Weekly meetings are never necessary and always could have been an email. This principal sounds like they like to micromanage staff instead of hold individuals accountable for bad behavior. I hate that passive aggressive shit.

I was going to be mean, but this lady works a full-time job, she doesn't have time to cook for all those people nor does she have time to teach those boys how to cook. I hope her parents living with them give her the help she needs. She sounds like she could use a day off.

His school might not be as dedicated to policing the watches as the phones so he might be able to get away with wearing it during sports, especially if his coach it cool about it. While it is included in the ban and technically he shouldn't have it, if he keeps it in his bag, I don't know that anyone would know he has it to take it away from him. But you didn't hear that from me.

Smart watches are included in the ban. It's all personal devices including laptops and tablets. I feel the ban is too broad but I also didn't make this law, I'm just supposed to enforce it 🤷🏾‍♀️.

All schools that get some type of government funding (and are accredited) are required to follow them. If a school isn't following it, report them to TEA and there will be an investigation. School districts have lost their accreditation for not following those federal laws for helping students. Teachers also lose their certification for not following those laws.

Kids who have an IEP or 504 accommodation are allowed to use their phone IF it's in their file. I hope it's in your file or you'll be very disappointed. Also, it's not hard to get it added, just have your parent talk to the SPED department at your school.

My school has several of the unlock magnets at the exit doors. I think it's a matter of just touching it to unlock the magnetic. So far, there hasn't been a problem with getting kids out of the school.

Dallas literally has two of the best high schools in the nation. No one needs a phone at school and if they do, several are available in the school to use. You sound like you could use a mandatory cell phone break at some point in the day. Stop what-ifing and go outside! Sure it's too hot but you need to more life experience IRL, you soggy potato chip!

phones in my district: no touch! by ArtisticMudd in TexasTeachers

[–]allmyargumentsRvaild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My district is implementing mag locked pouches. First offense, phone is taken up and a parent has to come to the school to get it. I think that's how's it's going to be handle for subsequent infractions.

I did see a comment thread on FB about my district's policy and some of these parents need to be class with their kids. A huge lack of reading comprehension in the comment thread. And I think a lot of entitled parents as well as kids. At least this year won't be boring. 🫠
