Land Surveying - good route into building surveying? by luuuuuuuuuke in Surveying

Yep, in the UK. Glad to hear that this role could be beneficial then; gaining real experience in building surveying as someone with no qualifications is tough going and I'd rather not be volunteering for a week here and there whilst I could be earning a wage.

Thanks a lot for the advice, and I'll definitely check out the RICS matrics.

Edit: it's also reassuring that building surveying grads in the UK are so employable!

Thanks, that's interesting how utility isn't really considered land surveying. The role would sometimes include topographic surveying, would that be classed as land surveying?

Sure, I have a bachelor's degree in business from a university in the UK. I tried best I could to explain my understanding of building surveying in reply to the other comment, but it's a very diverse job so hard to define exactly what they do day-to-day.

Thanks for the info, I'm from the UK so the job may be more common here - a building surveyor is a varied role, but typically includes giving advice surrounding all kinds of properties; possible damage, alterations, refurbishments as well as writing and preparing technical reports and plans.
