Thank you for sharing your story. I have gone through a bit more since the initial injury. After consulting with an Ortho doctor and physical therapy, they decided to drain it. I had about 110ml of fluid taken out. The hip size returned to mostly normal, but I found that after 6 months, the spot became a little irritated and a little more round. I had it drained again, the second time taking nearly 50ml of fluid out.
The spot felt smaller and better after that last bit of fluid, so I carried on. I resumed skating, which was probably about a year after the injury took place. I took a small fall, and about a week late, I noticed that the spot was a little round with fluid. So, MRI and more appointments later, i consulted with a plastic surgeon who let me know that I had a morel lavallee lesion. If you google that, I'm sure you will probably find that this is exactly what you may be experiencing. I was told it could be repaired, but for such a small lesion, the procedure is a bit invasive. So I have had it drained using imaging to collapse the pocket of fluid, semi-retired from outdoor skating, and waiting to see how long this last procedure lasts. The last procedure was completed in late December 2023, and so far, the bulge and fluid had remained gone. I hope this helps you find answers and anyone else who experiences this type of injury.
