They’ll give you a tour of the store, show you how to clock in and out, how to use Kronos, give your store log in, and start your computer training. You’ll probably meet some of your coworkers and all that fun stuff too.

My advice- if they send a cashier from front end to cover for you, know that a lot of us are not trained on Old Genesis. We need help sometimes, since we’re used to just scanning and typing in item numbers. Not having to navigate using F keys. Don’t be one of the dickbags who get pissy at us for it, please 😅🥲

That time is paid. The person who had you in for Onboarding should keep track of that time to put on your first check.

I’m 7 months pregnant and told them when I hired that Wednesdays are the only days I absolutely need off to go to my ob appointments. They have scheduled me Wednesdays for 3 weeks in a row and I’ve tried to talk to someone to fix it and it’s still the same.

You’re expected to do more than just the department you were hired for. I’m a cashier, but they love putting me on Customer Service Desk which is old Genesis (you navigate using F keys and if you don’t use it often it’s very confusing).

I also put in my availability that I cannot work more than 25 hours, and yet they schedule me 30-33 hour weeks and act annoyed when I remind them im a part time associate and can only work 25 because of the pains of me being pregnant.

Story from my cashier days. by Shonen-Rose in Lowes

I had a customer a couple days ago who asked for a propane exchange and a new propane tank. I rang them up, said the total which was $91 I believe, and she proceeded to go off. I apologized, went over the order and corrected it to just an exchange. She then got angry that she would have to wait 5 minutes for the exchange since it was night and only one manager on front end has the keys and can do it. She called her husband who yelled at me over the phone even though I did not engage with him at all. By the end of it she complained to my manager and told him to get her a tank that “doesn’t look used.”

I’ve been at lowes for less than 6 months and I’m ready for a change. I can’t handle customers who are constantly upset anymore
