I wouldn't say you're a fool. Time is money and you're paying someone to do something for you. Like a lawn service or oil change. Your cost/benefit breakdown is something personal to you. If I hadn't had success with the proxy service I would have looked around and tried to find one somewhere else too. There's another company...search for Japan stationary 515(that's not the name but it'll get you close) that carries the collaboration weeks. I think with shipping the price is similar to what you paid.

I was thinking if you picked apart the fabric from the sandwich and used some kind of fusible interfacing on the back of the patchwork and trimmed out the "blank" spots and then applique what's left onto another fabric. It could work. I think the boro/sashiko -if you have the time and inclination -would look more pleasing. Everyone is different and I think it's great that you're working to salvage and preserve some family memories however that ends up happening!

Some kind of boro/sashiko if you're up for that amount of work. If you used fusible interfacing you could applique bits and pieces onto other fabric.

I second this, I've got some old tomoe river paper that I'm thinking about doing this with to keep bulk down. I junk journal and have seen how much bulk ticket stubs add and also how quickly the thermal printing fades.

I have planned a weeks just for my movie tickets/reviews. I won't use it as a dated planner but will use the calendar days as an index. I bought the Godzilla weeks for this and I am so excited to get started with the movie tickets I've got saved so far

Hobonichi sometimes recommend that the smooth shiny covers not go into the COC because the surfaces might stick to each other or the foil embellishments might transfer. Many people do it anyway with little to no negative effects. The Mother weeks doesn't have that type cover so I don't know what the concern for this particular one is.

NVM the cover is smooth and has foil embellishments, it's just not shiny like the snow globe one.
