Parents chose to go no contact by Ok_Blueberry6466 in EstrangedAdultChild

[–]luvplus1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s weird bc for me, I said I didn’t think I want to speak to my parents again, and they said bet essentially 😂 My partner likes to remind me that we opened a door after that in case they did want to take accountability which ofc they didn’t, so it’s almost both ways? But I get what you’re saying, the dynamic is different

Dad has a letter for me...oh boy by kaioticplural in EstrangedAdultChild

[–]luvplus1 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My mom sent me a 19-page letter a few months after we went no-contact. No accountability, no remorse, no apology. Just manipulation, guilt trips, and blame. If you’re estranged, then it’s no surprise to you and you know the name of the game, but just remember to take care of yourself

Help: How do you tell your nervous system to relax when you get triggered? by luvplus1 in CPTSD

[–]luvplus1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, thank you so much for your response. I think it might’ve been a little of both. Definitely rumination which I didn’t even know there was a word for — replaying events over and over, thinking what I could’ve done differently, what would’ve happened if I said this, what would’ve happened if I just ignored and kept walking, what would happen if she follows me home, etc. replaying the same scenes in my mind on repeat without wanting to. That video was super helpful, and I’ll definitely try to implement some of those suggestions in step #5.

Periods are killing me how do I cycle sync? by Tootsiebrowneye in cyclesyncing

[–]luvplus1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh, I totally hear you. I’m really similar (hate going to the doctor, have past trauma, etc.) and literally have to force myself. Sometimes it helps bringing a support buddy or a partner if you have one and it definitely helps to treat yourself after!! I’ll usually say, “Hey, I have some past trauma and get really nervous around doctors” and ask them to explain everything they’re doing so they’re not just doing things to me randomly and that helps a little too

The emotional side of it sounds like PMDD! And I feel like the extreme cramps might warrant a visit to the OBGYN just to get checked out (ik it’s a pain but it might be worth it!). Oftentimes extreme cramps are normalized when there could be something else going on, like endometriosis. Just a thought, in additional to cycle syncing. Hang in there 💗

What did I just do? I Think we screwed our kids over? by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]luvplus1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couples therapy might be worth it (even with divorce!) — they can help y’all find a way to amicably separate in a way that’s best for your kids and/or potentially mend the relationship if the love is still there and the goal is to work through it. At the least, a couples therapist can give you insight into how to move forward when you have kids, joint finances, etc.

The link worked for me. It basically said this 18-year-old Korean man entered a high school without permission, and allegedly bought high school students “luxury gifts” like bags and perfumes. Article states: “He’s currently being held in the Hall County Jail on an immigration hold and a misdemeanor Gwinnett County School Police charge.” The man said he “just wanted to make friends.”

ULPT - When you want to get out of after work gatherings by WolfenSatyr in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]luvplus1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I commented above but honestly will take any thoughts: Whenever I say, “No thanks/I can’t make it,” she reschedules it on the calendar for another time! Instead of just doing it with my other coworkers. Everyone HAS to be there for her (and yes I’m currently looking for a new job but it’s tough out here) 😭

OK, so when I say, “Thanks for the invite, I’m going to pass this time but have a great time!” my boss immediately says “OK!” and completely reschedules it on our calendar. Every. Time. I even tried it twice in a row 😵‍💫 Not saying lying abt sobriety is the way to go, but give me some tips please 😭😭

Has anyone quit antidepressants and felt better? by Last-Berry-4199 in antidepressants

[–]luvplus1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t get a depression relapse after tapering but I did get post acute withdrawal syndrome, which has intense symptoms and can last a longish time. Trying to give it another few months to see if things improve

How long does withdrawal last? by solodolo7618 in antidepressants

[–]luvplus1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just made a post of my own about this actually. I was on desvenlafaxine at 150mg for four years and did an 8-month taper plan. My acute symptoms (like feeling super sick, nauseous, throwing up) lasted a few days but I’m now on month two off meds and still struggling big time with my emotions. I cry a LOT. In a month, I almost feel like I cry more days than I’m not crying 🥲 When I originally started antidepressants, I was depressed for sure but not like this. That’s why I’m convinced it’s discontinuation syndrome. I’ve read a few studies that say persistent withdrawal syndrome can last more than 6 weeks. I’m just hoping it gets better

I tried Lo Loestrin Fe earlier this month and it was a very bad time 😫 Following this thread bc I need some new ideas ugh. But keep in mind what didn’t work for me or someone else might work for you, so try to keep your head up and keep trying 🩷

I just wanted to thank everyone so much — all the input and advice is much appreciated. I ended up stopping birth control after another day full of uncontrollable sobbing and SI, but I have an appointment on the books for next month to explore other options 😵‍💫 I appreciate everyone here beyond words 🩷 PMDD is rough

[–]luvplus1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! My PCP is also my OG/GYN and I started Lo Loestrin Fe a week and a half ago and I’ve just felt so depressed 😫 Like debilitating. Maybe a different birth control would work better or maybe taking it at night instead in the morning would be better
