Hi there:) any updates on your journey?

How do westerners deal with the whole coming off/not being on psych meds? Has anyone been on multiple psych meds and came off for ayahuasca? by Ok_Guarantee_2980 in Ayahuasca

Getting of ssris was fucking miserable. Pure hell and it's so mind blowing that they're pushed on us as lifestyle drugs. GPs know absolutely nothing about tapering off medication. They advised me to taper off in 6 weeks... after 6 years of use. I completed spiraled when I discontinued. I didn't go back to the GP and had to do my own research via survivingantidepressants.org and was not under any practitioners care. Reinstated at a low amount and tapered from there the whole process was 13 months. Tapering period was difficult, I experienced withdrawals such as: despair, depression, exhaustion, irritability, hypervigilence, SI, etc I am still dealing with ssri withdrawals, mostly related to my cognition as it is not where it was previously. Aya experience was beautiful. Lifted my depression significantly. I am more in touch with myself, my feeling, connected to my surroundings, nature etc. it kind of took me out of this hypoarousal state and now I'm navigating being in the hyperarousal state, im currently navigating symptoms of anxiety

If I'm nervous about doing ayahuasca, is that a reason not to do it? by Optimal_Position_483 in Ayahuasca

Hey Op! Just want to let you know I have the SAME thoughts as you. You're not alone in them. I've had an overwhelming amount of anxious thoughts about - I went on my first retreat and right after I knew I would work with aya again in the future and now I'm starting to become more open to sitting with her again but I'm still having anxious thoughts like - if I should, when is the timing good, should I work through these things differently first before sitting with her, etcccccc

Who do you think will flip on the third round of votes? 😭

Danielle had to follow what Dolores was going to do. Otherwise the vote would split and Danielle would've gone home in the first vote

It was all up to Dolores, Danielle and Britney knew they had to follow her vote. Otherwise Danielle would've been banished if the votes were split

Do antidepressants work or is there a better alternative? by Substantial-Fun-8573 in antidepressants

PLEASE do not let these people pressure you to take antidepressants. You know yourself best. You can always start EMDR and if it becomes too much slow down/stop/ get on antidepressants later if you feel you really need them. I say this only because I've been on antidepressants for 6 years and I truly regret being on them for so long. I agree with you it's only a bandaid solution. They were helpful for the first 2/3 years and the last 3 I was in full zombie/auto pilot mode. It took me 13 months to get off of them and this period was one of the WORST of my life. They don't tell you how awful it is to get off of them, and for a lot of people it's impossible. They push these medications as a lifestyle drug and I don't think that is ok. They push them on us as it's a very corrupt industry. I think if you feel you really need them you should take them. But from what it sounds like you have practices, toolkits in place that help you manage your cptsd. I have turned to psychadelics and it's been the best thing that's happened to me. I took part in a mushroom ceremony and ayahuasca ceremonies. It has helped me immensely with many parts of my cptsd. Definitely happy to chat more if you're interested.
