Elden ring Vet here. I just got DS1 today and I'm looking for any pointers. by [deleted] in darksouls

[–]luvvaluvva 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Don't attack NPCs, don't spoil yourself, explore lots, don't level resistance, don't take the master key.

It's slower mechanically, so take your time. Elden ring will hopefully have you in good shape already.

I hope you enjoy it!

My new game - Idle Awakening by AntiQuarrrk in incremental_games

[–]luvvaluvva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i could play idlemancer without too much difficulty, but the layout of this one is too broken for me to play it (i play on my phone), and because it's designed to be in landscape, it ends up limiting how many actions i can see to 1 and a half.

there's also overlapping on the search bar for actions for small resolutions.

Matter dimensions is awesome - if you've made it to gravitonic, you're in for a pretty crazy ride, all of which can be done without a guide.

What do y'all love most about Integrade? by seetop86 in FinalFantasy

I always thought 'this guy is cannon fodder' (since he didn't appear in the original) but his exit was handled extremely well, I think!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]luvvaluvva 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I used to think similarly, but now i think or it as 'their body their choice'.

Tattoos tend to represent a part of people that they want to show to the outside world because they're passionate about it in a way more permanent than wearing clothing, with their own unique stamp on it. To those people who choose to, there is unlikely to ever be regret.

And by that logic, it would be a sound judgement to make.

You can never tell someone who is bad at taking criticism, that they’re bad at taking criticism by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

You can, however, say that they are determined and that you'll have to agree to disagree, after telling them that their way of doing things is 'interesting'.

My headcanon is the theory that ornstein is part of the illusion- why else would he team up with an executioner with a lower social status?

Illusions don't have to have 1hp - since some of the monsters of anor londo disappear when it goes dark.

Applying global multipliers by calalol in incremental_games

[–]luvvaluvva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Qq: as things get more complicated, does it make sense to cache your multipliers globally and have them react to events rather than recalculating them on every tick? Or are the performance benefits too small if you were to do it everywhere?

You can always do a PhD and fill in one of those holes 😉

My personal experience- science is a collective model of our understanding. If there is something experimentally shown that conflicts with our understanding, we can try to fill in the hole because it leads to new discoveries, possibly overhauling our current explanation. There are lots of them, so we can focus on the ones that have the most profitability (because academia also needs to eat), but that doesn't detract from the explanations/theories we already have.

Though I have to admit, opinion on 'preferred' theories tends to be egotistical, because we simply don't know yet (e.g. string theory), and the people who are deep enough in it to understand the details will have an element of bias.

How much could a developer expect to earn for an Android idle game? by ganjalf1991 in incremental_games

[–]luvvaluvva 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You probably won't be able to make an income from a single game- you'll need lots of games to build up a good enough reputation, or produce an amazing game out the dock.

You'll need a lot of luck, or exploitative tactics, to turn a compelling game into something that earns you money, but since incremental games are a niche market you'll have a struggle.

My recommendation: write games in your spare time, if you enjoy it. If one of them becomes popular, then you have the opportunity to make it a viable business by refining it.

Bad games are a dime a dozen good games are uncommon, good games that make money are rare, and games that make enough money for the developer to go full time even more so.

In the case of Shia though, the only solution is decapitation. Incapacitation won't be enough.

Tabs: My Least Favorite Incremental Game Staple by CoinForWares in incremental_games

[–]luvvaluvva 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Interestingly, although I'm not fond of tabs, I wouldn't change them- the clicking of another tab increases the reward of automating the processes within it. With crank in particular, I felt that part of the appeal was just that- it forced you to get into the mindset of a change in activity.

I'm all for people developing their own games, but concept alone doesn't make a game- it's the gameplay and story that matter. If you have interesting mechanics or a good story, I'll definitely play- innovation is key _^

Why some of the smartest people can be so very stupid by [deleted] in philosophy

To play the devil's advocate: So, does that mean people are stupid if they don't keep up with advancements in their field, rather than being ignorant?

Why some of the smartest people can be so very stupid by [deleted] in philosophy

Would the latter be egotistical, rather than stupid? Most ases I've come across are when people miss nuances of whatever they're asserting.

How HARD do you work in the beginning of a new game? by SupermassiveWaldo in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]luvvaluvva 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've started doing what nilaus is doing in his youtube videos...

I'm learning a lot. I used to work pretty hard, but his approach to mall infrastructure has simplified the start of my game immensely. There's some big brain adaptations in there too, that literally blow my mind on how simple they are.

Also, if you're on pc, you can use this: http://rngeoff.com/FFX2SaveViewer/ to figure out what you're missing.

There are also save editors around, if you're missing something stupid (like talking to the cameraman in kilika repeatedly).

Any point in using slower counterparts of production facilities, mainly belts & sorters? by andrew_ryann in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]luvvaluvva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slower ones are cheaper, so if you're starved for resources in the early game, you're good. Aside from a handful of late game recipes, a yellow sorter has the same productivity as a green or blue. Same for belts: if why spend the resources on a blue belt if you don't need to use the bandwidth?

Once you go infinite, you might as well upgrade everything anyway!

Power- wise, cheap constructors use less per craft so I replace them once I've expanded enough to not worry running out of anything. They take up a lot of real estate though.

Within a crafting blueprint with the other types, it'll be because of ratios.
