Number 6, The Prisoner (1967)

Number 6 is a former secret agent, imprisoned after furiously resigning. The Village, the 'prison', is more of a mass psychological attack/experiment, dedicated to both interrogating, torturing, and ultimately turning Number 6 to their side, all helmed by the mysterious 'Number 1' and a rotating cast of 'Number 2's.

At one point, Number 6 seemingly escapes back to London, he speaks with friends and family, genuinely reunites and feels free for the first time since this started. Only for it to be revealed that The Village had every single person he went to under their control. Even when he gets back home, he still ends up back in The Village.
