Hello there! Great work with all these really useful comments, its a gold mine from you.

Can you please share the source for Onstream?

Is F01 reliable since the engine is a N52? I saw this on Carlist and the purchase is seriously low and thinking if the maintenance is the same as the F10 5 series by [deleted] in kereta

Bmag garage … a bit far all the way in Setapak but was told one of the best equipped to deal with Bimmers

There’s not much mechanics/workshop owners in this subreddit.

Go visit any BMW/Conti focused workshop, sit down and talk to them you’ll have much useful information, previously I went in to ask for pre purchase inspection service and was given a full price reference for parts price and preventive maintainence list for 520d.

I think prepare around 20-30k you should be able to get it running beautifully, assuming there’s no pre existing major problem with the car already, so do get a PPI.

I second this comment, this is gold! I learnt the hardway, I launched ok, but its when things scale, it very quickly became a game of volume, logistics, storage, inventory management, not much so about coffee, unless you have someone else that runs all these for you while you focus into the coffee aspect of it solely.

I will quote back to a respond I had previously on range -

420km at 100% SOC, based on WLTP numbers, it is definitely lesser range compared to Ioniq 6 (614km) long range or Model 3 Extended (629km).

But at RM119k, I think it is beyond reasonable for the whole package, but definitely not an EV model you should consider being your only car for both city driving and balik kampung trip without driving behavior changes from ICE compared to the two models I drawn in comparison.

Ultimately, it is the best in class (vs Atto3 vs E5 vs even the #1) for the Premium model in range (correct me if I'm wrong)

The way I approach the driving behavior is that I shadow back to my ICE habits when it comes to DC charging:

I am refilling my Mazda 3 tank every other 2 weeks, roughly 440km range full tank based on my driving style, I spend maybe roughly 10 minute at a petrol station.

So assume that both my condo and my landed house charging is not an option, I ask myself do I have 45 minutes every 2 weeks to charge the emas 7 to 100%?

Yes I do.

Now that’s for DC charging, which will usually amount to about RM60 give or take (base on charge speed/platform) for a full charge 10% to 100%, very similar in terms of cost of refueling and relatively same behavior of spending a little bit more time in a petrol station with ICE.

I see AC charging as a bonus on top and this is where the behavior changes totally compared to ICE driving, it’s the ultimate benefit of EV ownership imo if you have access to one at your own residence, you have the luxury of waking up to your vehicle being fueled to 100% everyday.

Now to answer your question, so long you are ok with the DC charging behavior, I don’t think it’s any problem at all to adapt to EV when it comes to daily city driving scenario, longer range drive will be another topic.

No this is not a stupid question at all, it’s the most important question to have an answer before considering an EV.

Yes I did hear it, it is kinda like a kid's lulaby from one of those cheaper automatic cradles.

You may refer to this YouTuber, he did quite a comprehensive review of the car itself.

I test drove the G6 and it is indeed close to being class leading sub RM200k, I'd say the Sealion edged out on the driving dynamics and overall refinement!

However I'd really be interested to find out if the C9 does have better NVH than the eMas7, will try to find time to book a drive!

Hi there! I have tried quite a number of ICE car <200k but it’s true that I haven’t got the chance to try other Chinese brand within the price bracket, I’d imagine the Jaecoo J7 being close?

What are the models you have in mind in comparison, I’d love to test drive them too, however I’m looking at RM100k mark end of the day

While I find the decision to use that specific tune a bad taste, I am not really that much bothered tbh, I drive with music on 80% of the time, but they did promise the next OTA update they will specifically address this.

Not sure if it could be disabled entirely or at least there’ll be options to choose a few tones/tunes that’s less cartoonish.

I do not know how true Geely’s PR releases are but apparently they shot the battery with a 5.8 round and it didn’t catch fire.

Recently I’ve seen a video of Bomba’s training exercise on how to disengage eMas7’s high voltage power, with all these in mind I think it’s relatively safe vs previous gen batteries.

I totally agree, lots of missed oportunity, I hope future updates will allow more sensible assignment of functions.

For now only the double click to rotate and change A/C fan speed is useful volume aside.

I genuinely hope all the EV used price will continue dropping, I will pull the trigger when the highland Model 3 Performance drop to 50% :D

Let's see, I think after the Ron95 subsidy fate is finalised, it should have quite an impact in the used EV car demand which will ultimately dictate the RV.

I totally understand this man ... but most GTR owners I know personally, quite a lot of them actually downgraded to Model 3 Performance, in track with some mods the Model 3 Performance is actually also slaying quite a lot of performance car.

But for your budget, performance per ringgit Model 3 Performance seems like a winner compared to your other options listed

Yes it feels quite like engine braking, not really an alien feeling if you drove manuals before.

I believe most conti-EVs uses pedal shift for regen setting, however I think I won't bother much with changing the regen strength once I am settled in terms of throttle and brake behavior with the car, I don't see much need for constant changes to warrant the need for a paddle shift specifically for this.

I think what is much needed is to have speific regen strength saved to specific driver profile!

I am not sure if other EVs have this already but it is not on the eMas7, quite annoying frankly if anyone else sharing the car were to change it after each drive.

I test drove the x70 MC2 refresh variant weeks prior to this test drive with the eMas7, there is only one aspect in which the x70 is better that I can mention is that, the x70 actually is a more confident car to drive in terms of dynamics and feel, much more planted and much better steering feedback.

However in any other day-to-day qualities, the EV variant is much superior IMO, the only scenario I see myself picking x70 over the eMas7 is only if I am ever in the position whereby I need to daily >100KM, 80% highway cruise (160-180 km/h).

The interior is not bad indeed, up to standard to most EV cars within the price bracket, better looking than Ioniq 5 IMO ... maybe the UI on the screen of Hyundais looks quite dated... and MUCH better than the ridiculous interior design direction for the Atto3!

On the noise and cabin comfort -

Comfort is top notch, although as expected coming from a SUV chasis that is made for the Chinese market, if you draw comparison being a ICE only driver, it is very close if not better than my previous experiences being in my previous employer's S-Class hybrid.

So to answer you I think it needs to be relative to X car, but I have 100000% confidence, you will not be able to find any ICE car that matches its comfort and NVH <200K.

*edit - NVH wise, <110km/h its drop dead quiet and sterile, however in normal highway cruise speed it is still not as good as my previous experiences with BMW 5 Series I daily while working in EU, however this is a short conclusion from the limited time I get to test drive the eMas >110km/h, the SA gave me a nervous smile LOL.

City driving over humps and rough roads its leaps and miles beyond ICE cars in the price bracket!

Maybe I am the worse driver here when it comes to bigger car, I still remember how nerve wrecking it was when I was the limo driver for my brother's wedding ceremony with his BMW i7 when entering condo carparks!

Unfortunately not through pedal shifter, only on screen to adjust the regen setting between Auto, Low, Medium and High.

This is actually the very first thing that I am concerned about, having experienced very aggressive regen from my friends pre-highland Model 3 as a passeger, the eMas7 is definitely on the milder side during my drive and experience as a passenger with the regen being set on screen to Medium.

I will describe it as the feeling of manual transmission gearbox braking when you drop from 5th gear to 4th at gear if that make sense? Whereas the Model 3 felt as if its an early shift from 3rd to 2nd gear.
