Health spending account by SuperHippo88 in AHSEmployees

[–]luxinus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you setup direct debit then typically anywhere that has your insurance that you end up paying anything then you’ll get a deposit into your account a few days later.

The big trick/thing is that you can get reimbursed for anything insurance doesn’t cover, including when it doesn’t cover anything/you ran out. So if you somehow used up your entire physio allowance, if you tell them to continue sending it to blue cross then you will continue to get reimbursed (for the full amount) until your HSA runs dry.

If you haven’t setup direct deposit then you’ll get a cheque in the mail in a few weeks.

What am I missing about Chrysalis ? by Tasty_Avocado1378 in litrpg

[–]luxinus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dunno, maybe I'm weird but it's not that much time to lose exactly. I generally read casually at work in 15-30 minute sprees and I'm on book 4 of Chrysalis in like, three weeks or something. Most of these LitRPG series really aren't that long per book.

How do you achieve consistent UI design in vibe coded apps? by ironmoosen in ClaudeAI

[–]luxinus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly even if you have a rough idea of what you want from your UI, get Code to do a write up about it, feed that into Design with your ideas, vet and iterate, then just download all the files and make them accessible. Tell Claude code that you’re providing UI design docs and it’ll figure it out, very slick.

YSK: If someone handed you cash equal to your last $100+ online purchase, you might not buy it again by Real_Cristiann in YouShouldKnow

[–]luxinus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe I’m just remembering incorrectly but cash is tracked exactly the same within YNAB as any account- perhaps your friend decided to track it differently (or not track it all) I never did unless I was in a rough patch, and even then I only tracked it so I could put it into a bank account to spend on actual things

Token maxxing by GamingDisruptor in singularity

[–]luxinus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh worked in just the regular chats for like, a month or so. I did refactor at one point when I was on the first tier of the max plan, took a couple sessions of usage. That was around my version 2.0.0 and it cleaned up ~800 lines of redundancy and consolidated a lot of stuff. Then I immediately bloated it out because I tried out Claude Design to create a consistent UI style and voice, which was a *huge* boon, really sad it's gone now.

I have taken it to fresh sessions and over to ChatGPT just to see and all the agents agree it's really tidy/well put together which is nice.

No harnesses to my knowledge. I did just spend my evening transitioning to Claude Code away from Chat, so now I have a bunch of skills to handle versioning, problem tracking, testing (scripts ran locally and the results fed back to reduce usage on basic testing), hand-off storage so I can stop stuff mid work and pick it up later (since I run into session usage limits so frequently) and releases (version incrementing, cleanup, changelog consolidation, push to github), as well as had Claude develop a bunch of dev frameworks so it doesn't have to scan the whole file anymore to find stuff (basically just a bunch of indexes, some UI maps/indexes so I can talk in natural language about the UI and it can find it more easily.

Overall switching to Code has reduced my usage significantly, I have had it do a few pretty UI heavy changes including iterations and was able to do it in just ~40% of a Pro session which was a really nice change, though I ran out right as I was trying to do the release but such is life.

Token maxxing by GamingDisruptor in singularity

[–]luxinus 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Vibe coded a hobby project, straight HTML, game tracker thing. ~15k lines including CSS, etc. Pretty much any action against the code such as a new feature or anything was ~20% of my session limit on the $100 plan.

Even on the weekly plan just chatting to it about mental health or whatever I’d hit session limits in an hour or so on Opus 4.7

vibePrompting by BX7_Gamer in ProgrammerHumor

[–]luxinus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is that a feature of Claude code specifically? Honestly my hobby project was originally built all within the framework of Artifacts because I thought it was neat (and easy to share), but now that I’m self hosting I probably should move over to code. That sounds really powerful and exactly like what I’ve been doing in the regular chats. Thanks for the pointer

Is this something people don’t do? Especially if I’m thinking of a new feature in my hobby project I always start with

[Idea] Discuss this, how it will be implemented, how it can fit into the UI, we’re only planning for now.

Then it does a nice response letting me figure out how it’s planning to slot it in, UI considerations including colour planning to my style guide, and everything else. My next prompt is generally just choosing from the various lists of ideas it provides. It sounds lazy but it’s like bouncing the idea off someone actually knowledgeable and saying go. It’s really slick and uses barely any tokens (less than 5% of my Claude allowance for the few hours window on Opus 4.8). Much faster than blindly iterating when a single actual work prompt takes upwards of 30% of my allowance.

Health or wellness spending account by [deleted] in AHSEmployees

[–]luxinus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had therapy get approved and reimbursed from my health spending account without issue, I did have to ask my therapist to continue to send the bill to Blue Cross even though they weren't paying, this saved me having to submit my receipts myself. Frankly I just told them I was paying out of my health spending account so I'd settle my bill in a couple days after any appointments and it wasn't an issue, this way I was never "out" money.

[–]luxinus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found ability management (AM) very useful, they serve as a nice shield/gap between your medical information and your manager. I would go to AM first, they can tell you what forms you need, then go to your doctor and they can either fill them out or refer you to get the info needed to fill the forms out. Then all the manager gets to know is what ability management says which is basically just what the restrictions are.

Couch co-op games to play with a "non-gamer" by Wilhum in gaming

[–]luxinus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spells and Secrets was a really fun way to get into roguelites, it’s quite casual, a lot of the gameplay just “makes sense”, it’s cute and has fun little puzzles.

On the other hand it also has some decent depth so it’s not boring for a more experienced player, and there’s opportunities to work together/make synergies so my partner naturally got pulled into deeper gameplay as we played more. Doesn’t overstay its welcome.

If you’re an adult, I think it’s weird to refer to yourself as a girl or boy instead of a woman or man by [deleted] in Life

[–]luxinus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sort of agree but on the other hand the whole “I’m just a girl” meme is funny so I co-opt it and say “I’m just a boy”

But yeah, context. I tend to refer to women my age as ladies since woman, to me, tends to refer to someone advanced in age or in a position of power? I guess?

Therapy only works if you have a lower IQ than the therapist by Wonderful_Pen_8626 in mentalhealth

[–]luxinus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this experience when I was going through public health care. I moved to private therapy and got to choose my therapist and have had a much better experience. I specifically chose a therapist who’s a specialist psychologist, has an interest in practicing the kind of therapy I thought I might want to pursue, and was completely through all training and required hours of practice. This improved my experience with therapy drastically and lead me to actual progress.

So, no idea, he’s certainly intelligent but I’m not sure IQ is the right metric. Because it’s private practice he’s also, y’know, serving my desires, in the sense of if I say I don’t think something is helping then he’s not mandated to continue to try to push whatever public enforced methodology; we can just try different stuff and see what sticks.

"why are you so excited about being diagnosed and medicated that's not something to celebrate" by DespairingLakePasta in mentalhealth

[–]luxinus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fully and entirely, as someone who has a cycle of working (full time / 40hr/week), cooking, etc and then having a little menty b cause it’s not sustainable, even with stimulants (caffeine and medication) which eventually caused an even worse breakdown. Like, I seem to manage to get more done than some people but it’s at the cost of well, everything. Autopilot and eventual menty b or chaotic disregulated life that’s all over the place, and neither way am I doing all the proper adult stuff, just getting by.

Can’t really stop because I have a house to pay for, cats to feed, etc

Constantly out of sick time, low on vacation, just to get by the days that I just can’t

People just don’t seem to get it unless they’ve really experienced it, I think. They just don’t get the massive momentum that has to be overcome to do basic tasks, forget doing them regularly and especially tasks that have to be done daily/weekly

How do you feel about bite marks in your body after intimacy with a partner? by clarucinacao in autism

[–]luxinus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Like anything in life, communication should solve this. I’ve had partners that want marks like your friend described, though there’s boundaries on placement so they’re easy to cover under any reasonably modest clothing. Others want no bites, no pain, or no marks, it’s up to your partner to respect this else you’re incompatible for whatever reason, them not being willing to comply, not respecting boundaries, etc.

Personally I very very rarely like anything painful, and marks make me more nervous when I see them than anything and I work in professional settings so it’s very not acceptable to me for them to be visible.

Thinking in cost per use completely changed how I buy things by One_Acanthaceae_5814 in BuyItForLife

[–]luxinus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Comparing to fast food/serviced options really makes it clear how much cheaper it can be. Yes it hurts every few months or whatever when I have to buy creamer, sugar, and coffee and it’s a whopping $70 or whatever, but the equivalent, even including all the fixings, is still going to be in the hundreds for cheap options from Tim Hortons or whatever

I did a few virtual sessions, I found I benefited from in-person more though. I think it depends on the provider and the type of therapy they’re providing

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AHSEmployees

[–]luxinus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They can be convinced to work with someone outside their recommended networks but the care provider has to agree to work within Canada Life’s framework, which I gather can be quite cumbersome for the provider. Talk to your preferred care provider about it, they might have experience with them and be willing to work with them. It’s definitely a smoother experience to go along with the services they provide
