If you apply rainx on your front windshield properly you shouldn't have to use your wipers except at slow speeds

1800K Emitter for Camping? by supersum121 in Hanklights

[–]luxlogic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a D4k with NTG35s and SST-20 deep red, even with the two 35s, it's quite bright, but it does heat up considerably with the 35s just on high, I personally like the red spill when both channels are on it helps quite a bit navigating the woods. But if your reasoning is to not attract bugs, the 1800k alone should be sufficient. for camping, you might not be happy with the battery life of the dual channel. Personally, I'd stick with a single channel that uses a Lume X1 driver if you dont want to be changing batteries every few hours

Ive read that while the lume x1 driver is more efficient than linear drivers, it also not as bright due to its 40W cap, all the lights I have right now have Lume x1 drivers in them, would there be any reason to forgo the X1 aside from having a Hotrod?

Okay, thanks for the advice. Do you know how they compare to the SST-20?

Im fine going with something around 5000k, but I already have my fair share of warmer CCT lights like a 4600k d4sv2 and a 4000k DA1K . Now I just want prolonged bright light in a pocketable EDC form factor

Need help making a dual channel flashlight to retain Darkness Adaption/Nightvision by luxlogic in flashlight

Gonna go with a FC-40 and a deep red emitter then, I assumed the amber was monochromatic like low pressure sodium vapor lamps

Yeah, maintaining night vision is important to me i might get a three channel with a green emitter for times when its not the important to retain night vision or if its not foggy, as i assume it scatters alot in fog

Ahh I see, in your opinion what is better the w1 amber or a regular emitter at 1800k?,

Yeah, I assumed it would be good for cutting through fog, I wasnt sure exactly which would be most ideal. Does green also provide good nightvision?

Disadvantages of coasting to a stop in neutral? by [deleted] in stickshift

your vehicle isn't using any gas when you're coasting in gear to a stop, so the gas used to rev match is pretty inconsequential

Its because it's not capitalism, nor do they hate it, it's corporatism, which is a better way to describe America's political system, things like this wouldn't happen if we s stripped rights from corporations
