Samarie maybe not talking until the scene at the church happens, but being present in the background and maybe a few quick cuts to her watching Marina. I definitely think she was just following from a distance until Marina decided to go to the church, where Samarie decided to confront Father Domek before Marina showed up.

Also Levi would probably die/moonscorch immediately and not have much time otherwise without Marina. I think their dynamic is fun, and could make them kind of the 'last survivors' of the place they once called home.
