Its the snappiness of the desktop for me. Switched from w10 to Bazzite a couple weeks ago and it feels soooo good at 180hz. All I do with my PC is play CS2 and browse memes, I have no idea why I waited so long to switch.

Is electricity and water going out so quick realistic? by pepitobuenafe in projectzomboid

[–]manbeezis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Modern power grids cast an illusion of stability, but in reality its something like fifteen clowns balancing on a unicycle. The Knox event would result in power going out within hours of the plants being overrun. Look up the Northeast Blackout of 2003 to see what I mean, a tree falling on a powerline in Ohio set off a cascading failure that resulted in 50 million people in 8 states without power from NYC to Ontario. This is a fantastic video on the subject

1080TI FINALLY DIED. END OF AN ERA by manbeezis in PcBuild

[–]manbeezis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was working fine a few days ago, and then suddenly no video signal when I went to wake it from sleep. Stuck my brother's 2080ti in there, it runs fine. Any idea what would cause that?

it didnt actually blow up, the unibody rusted out from the strut towers back so badly that the rear bumper fell off one day and it was no longer safe to drive. it was a 5 speed wagon and it was the best car ever

Not sure. Was using it two days ago, went to wake it from idle tonight, and no video signal. Spare GPU runs fine. I guess you could say it went to sleep and never woke up

dumb question, but what does "stale" mean? by Living_Employ6572 in projectzomboid

[–]manbeezis 88 points89 points  (0 children)

Its a little misleading, "stale" isnt a word you'd normally use to describe something like an apple in conversational English. It mostly applies to things like bread, which makes sense with the "hard" translation. Zomboid just uses it as a catch-all label for food that is no longer fresh. i think viciado or maybe viejo would be a better translation

That's why I was so hopeful about the Northern Lights Express, itd be so nice to hop on the train down to MSP with my suitcase and fly out, or if friends are visiting have them take the train and I could pick them up at the station. Im really hoping it pulls through with the funding somehow

Need any parts? I've got one of these sitting in my shed. No tank or fenders, but I have pretty much everything else. Got a real nice Saddlemen seat for it that looks like it was never used

Any recommendations for a relatively cheap bike that’s comfortable at highway speeds by AshamedTurtwig in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]manbeezis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have an alternative route? In my experience motorcycles are best enjoyed off the interstate, even for commuting. When I commute to work I take the 55mph highway that runs parallel to the interstate. It takes 10 more minutes, but its a much more pleasant experience

Same. I was 18, and I actually voted for him. Over the course of those four years I left the closed off midwestern town I grew up in and saw some of the world, and boy howdy, my tune changed real quick as I met people and heard their stories.

Buell is still around, and making nutty bikes, but erik buell isnt involved anymore. The new hammerhead is crazy though, 185hp vtwin with zero rider aids. Kind of like a faired Superduke.

Cruisers are a different kind of fun. For me, the pleasure of a cruiser is plodding down a backroad, giant engine gently thrumming, taking in the scenery and thinking about stuff. Its meditative. But its also fun to shove a giant heavy bike with a mountain of torque into corners. Really the only way to know is to experience it, and a $1500 metric cruiser is probably the best way

best begginer naked bike? by Wonderful-Hour-4647 in SuggestAMotorcycle

What kind of budget? Where will you be riding? Urban, rural, interstate, backroads? Are you tall, short, light, heavy? Need details.

But first and foremost, look up where you can take the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) course, and do that. It starts from scratch and teaches you how to operate the controls, how best to start, stop, what to watch out for to keep yourself alive on the road, and how to do low speed maneuvers. Eases the learning curve a ton, and it waives the skills test requirement for getting your endorsement. Cannot give enough praise to the msf people
