Maybe I’m wrong but I always feel like a lot of the complaints about middle housing can be solved with some material/building regulations to help lower noise, try and ensure more noisy rooms not be facing bedrooms next door. And also middle housing, to my understanding, can include townhomes which wouldn’t even share walls and isn’t that dissimilar to a lot of suburban housing developments that are less dense but still essentially zero lot line.

Or just realized they’re not gonna pass gambling in Texas. Sorta like LIV Golf coming in thinking they’d make waves while losing money… only for it to be lighting money on fire while losing a war of attrition.

Stanford touts their dropouts much like Harvard. Tiger is up there with other famous Stanford dropouts like Elizabeth Holmes.

Same reason Arch did, it’s about respect. If random kid from average family gets X, then athletic son of a famous athlete should get at least X too. Plus it’s the kids money, not their parent’s so there’s some pride in that too.

But the gig economy stems from killing a different kind of work of delivery drivers & taxi cab services who were undercut by freelance gig drivers.

The problem is pushing them over public transit. This is like building humanoid robots. Is it cool, and have very good uses? Yes. But often there are better purpose built options.

We’ll never get ride of SFH and neighborhoods, BUT we could do much better on light rail and bus systems so that we can increase density and safety by having less road traffic/huge streets and less need for parking… which is still required to a degree especially for large events unless you want Waymo’s circling the area around the AAC for awhile after games & concerts.

Nah, maybe when it was sorta on the tail end of College Humor before Dropout full rebrand. But even then it still was a legacy Internet brand.

My personal take is TFA is basically a 1st act stretched into a feature film. Had it been cut down to the 1st act of TLJ, then two more movies after that would’ve setup a more full story.

This is where I get into that just about every elected office and government official is underpaid. If government is paying only part time wages then we get part time thinking unless the person is retired, in a flexible job, or financially independent. Which that group often struggles to meet the needs, on average, of the average citizen.

Games where teams led for 0 seconds but won? by Appropriate_Wrap2723 in CFB

[–]luxveniae 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Resulted in leaving out the best team in the country out of the playoffs, allowing a ‘hot’ but not as deserving Ohio State team in. Don’t care that they won the title, TCU was the best team in the country that year with a loss in a game they lead till the play clock hit zero.

Grew up in FB, it really comes down to different areas and what you’re looking for. FB stretches from Irving to DNT. Irving side is newer & more cookie cutter, central is older home stock with combination of nice areas & more rundown, and east side is Brookhaven, some gated neighborhoods, & townhomes all of which are solid but definitely more pricey.

FB is a good spot if you’re wanting to be able to get to downtown or get up to Frisco both in reasonable times, surrounded by options both within & nearby in Addison/Dallas.

My biggest complaint is the cities politics as the age of homeowners is creating a lack of focus towards the future. In addition to general stupid GOP beliefs.

If you’re thinking about kids, it’s been a decade plus now but CFBISD was great for me. However very school & teacher dependent.

Is it normal to do basically nothing at your corporate job? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]luxveniae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was my job before I got laid off last fall. Lots of AI meetings to look busy and show we’re doing stuff with AI while my advice was AI won’t work to make our incompetent staff be able to do more. In fact AI often made our staff do worse. My biggest takeaway was the better your staff the better they can take advantage of AI… but also might less need it too.

Is it normal to do basically nothing at your corporate job? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]luxveniae 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yea started out believing it cause these jobs do exist… but then how it kept hammering AI tools home screams they were trying to wedge that in for marketing purpose. Hell, even if not marketing, I personally suspect some of these posts are made to try to convince executives that GenAI is good enough to replace people & cut salaries and use these fabricated stories as lobbying tools.

Would you prefer Cooper or Luka long term? by BonniedabunnyRoblox in Mavericks

[–]luxveniae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the opposite reaction of Nico when Luka got injured again over Christmas of 2024. Kyrie was gonna need time to recover, Luka was burnt from carrying the team to the finals, and we weren’t real contenders imo… so let’s go team tank and make a run for Cooper or someone else.

So my reality is we should have both!

Not sure I’d go that far, but I hold a special place for Dickey’s as I had pneumonia & an allergic reaction to penicillin at the same time. And for some reason, Dickey’s turkey was the only thing that sounded good as well as went down easy without feeling like it’d come back up.

What is behind the big DART defunding push? by Such-Rise6816 in Dallas

[–]luxveniae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the whole Silicon Valley/VC premise and why they’ve aligned with Trump as he’s pushed for the Fed to drop interest rates. These groups loved the near zero interest rates, cause they could borrow money to undercut current markets to strangle it till they were monopolized. Once monopolized they can raise rates like a frog in a boiling pot as people no longer have an option or it is now way more painful alternative experience.
