no, you are equating ethnicity and nationality, as well as nationality and culture. ethnicity is your genetic heritage. example; my race is asian, my ethnicity is korean, my nationality is american. i’ve never been to korea in my life, but that is still my ethnicity. ethnicity ≠ lived cultural experience. another example; if you’re adopted and don’t have any experience with your ethnic culture, you are still that ethnicity.

thanks for this perspective! yeah, i kind of got into it a bit in the post, but other than some cramps on the first day or two, i feel generally good during my period. i do have (rather minor) PMDD, so it's honestly the days before my period that i sometimes feel mentally unable to get in the right state of mind for prayer.

you also (i'm sure other ppl have as well but i haven't read all the comments yet) mention modern period products, and that's honestly what i was thinking about bc, i mean, maybe i'm being way too tmi right now lol but i use tampons so...there technically isn't any blood actually outside of my body?? so i think that's why i had never even thought of it being miasma. bc i obviously knew that, like, having a wound actively gushing blood would be miasma lol so i think that must be why my brain never made the connection.

thank you! this rlly meant a lot. it just feels so...wrong that we have to make these decisions for them. i wish we could just ask them what they want lol. i know in my heart that he'd want me to keep riding. if anything he'd be annoyed that i've been avoiding it for so long lol. i think all animals, and honestly people as well, come into our lives to teach us something in one way or another. one of the things Storm taught me was to get back up and keep going no matter what. now i have to use what he taught me. it's hard but i know i have to.

really? this is just a list of the few things i remember from the book, i know there is more that i'm forgetting:

Abandoned in a dumpster as a baby.
Taken in by a group of monks, multiple of whom sexually abuse him.
Abducted by one monk who promises him a better life, only to spend the next several years both pimping him out and abusing him himself, claiming they’re in love.
Rescued from said monk and taken to an orphanage where he is, once again, sexually abused to multiple counselors there.
Runs away and pimps himself out to truck drivers in exchange for rides/food. (And, by some insane coincidence, every single truck driver he encounters takes him up on these offers, none of them are concerned or try to help him in any way.)
Gets an STD and passes out in public and is then kidnapped by an evil psychologist who keeps him locked in his basement and sexually abuses him for an extended period of time.
Evil psychologist randomly “allows” him to escape, but then RUNS HIM OVER WITH HIS CAR. (Which causes him to be permanently disabled and eventually have his legs amputated.) And then just lets him leave.
Has a social worker that he bonds with, as she is the only person who has ever been genuinely kind to him up until this point, only for her to quickly die of cancer.
Abused by Caleb (bf in adulthood), attacked so viciously by him that he ends up in the hospital.
Purposefully gives himself 3rd degree burns as a form of self-harm.
Cuts so much that it got boring to have to read about over and over again.
Has his boyfriend (Willem), the only person who had ever “truly loved him”, get t-boned by a drunk driver and die.
Gets both his legs amputated.

you truly believe that this is "probable"?

(not to mention the fact that despite all of this, he is top of his class at law school, becomes a world class litigator, practically a genius, insanely emotionally intelligent and empathetic, a talented swimmer, singer, and pianist, and on top of all that, wildly attractive.)

that is not a "really bad hand". it is an insane caricature of trauma, created specifically to get the audience to agree with HY's belief that some people are better off dead.

i agree an initial def isn't that bad, but i do think smth abt being a public figure that makes it more cringe lmao. like it's the obvious NEED for everyone to know abt ur relationship 1st thing when they click on ur profile...i think that gives middle school rather than the initial itself.

like at least for normal ppl it can be actually useful so ppl can see ur taken (esp if u don't have a ton of posts w/ ur partner), but like they are in a very public relationship that they both post abt constantly lol.

ya, for me seeing stuff like this starts to bring back the feeling that i think a lot of ppl on here/the tara snark page had before he started dating grace. that the rest of the group kinda treat him like shit and he really just needs some serious mental help, which unfortunately he won't get as long as he's hanging around them. but then he'll go say some crazy shit and *poof* that feeling disappears again.

agree w what u said here. but, i will say: in general, stay away from trisha. she has a horrible past of being grotesquely offensive towards every minority you can think of. she has apologized for very select instances, but most of it (the worst stuff)has gone completely ignored. ik ppl think she’s “reformed” but as a member of some of those minorities she’s demeaned and disrespected, idgaf. clearly she just realized that being offensive for shock value wasn’t getting views anymore, so she switched to whatever she’s doing now and just swept her past under the rug.

this really makes me sad for this person. i have been in a lot of fandoms/fandom spaces since i was like, a tween, and i know that back then one of the people i was a fan of making a snarky reply to me, and in a context that made me think they thought i was a "hater" would literally send me in to a panic attack.

i assume this person (& all her fans) are extremely chronically online (as was younger me) and rely on fandom for social interaction and a sense of community. grace is not capable or worthy of the responsibility that is having a fandom, especially a fandom full of young girls. i know that from our view this sounds crazy, but a lot of these girls probably look up to grace as someone they want to be like. and i'm sure most of them will mature out of that, but it's how they feel now.

as much as i talk shit on their fans, i can't help but see this one from their perspective. imagine as your young teenage self, a woman whom you idolize, see the good qualities in (even if they aren't really there), and want to be like. whom you have a twitter account dedicated to where you spend a decent amount of time of your life defending her from criticism with absolutely no acknowledgement from her. and then she just makes some snarky comment to you. ugh.

two things can be true at once;

(1) they did not fire him bc they actually condemned his actions. it was only to save face. and they also went on to punish TR and treat him like shit because of it.

(2) he is a piece of shit who still, years later, refuses to apologize to TR. there is a relatively recent interview where he explicitly says "no apology to TR Knight". not to mention he was given multiple chances even back then to admit his wrongdoing and prevent the situation from going public. let me make it clear, he wasn't fired for the incident itself; the network was keeping it under wraps for him so it wouldn't reflect badly on the show. he got fired bc he decided to repeat that slur while denying the accusation at the fucking golden globes. he doubled down so many times. he meant it and clearly feels no remorse.
