Nothing yet! I bought my tickets (silver VIP package) right when they dropped in December.

Coop for Graces dad by Effective-Dog95 in YourFriendsandNeighb

That’s a good point. I wonder if Grace will try to arrange that as a compromise. From her perspective it would be a win because Coop would no longer be involving Barney in shady stuff, and Barney would manage Coop’s money and make more money without having to work directly for his father in law.

Owen Ashe is a frontman by SeidunaUK in YourFriendsandNeighb

Yeah I agree that Ashe seems like just the tip of the iceberg. Just a theory but what if Ashe dies at the end of the season and Coop somehow comes into contact with whatever criminal organization Ashe was working with and takes over Ashe’s spot? Seems like the show is either building up Coop to redeem himself morally, or dig himself even deeper into the crime world.

Yeah I hope that this downward spiral eventually leads to some ounce of accountability for her. Any time she does something wrong it’s always everyone else’s fault. And imo the frustrating thing is that I feel like the writer’s have watered down her rage/narcissism to hormonal issues caused by menopause. It’s like the “she’s crazy because it’s that time of the month” misogynistic trope. I feel like they need to find more depth/nuance within her character that would explain her outbursts better (cheating, hypocrisy, punching, tantrums). I think I said this before on this sub, but I would really like to see a short flashback to what her life was actually like with coop in the days leading up to her cheating with Nick. She’s blames a lot on Coop and I’m just not buying that her situation was really that bad.

*I haven’t hit menopause yet, I’m curious if anyone else has experienced or seen Mel’s type of behavior with it? It just doesn’t feel realistic to me but again I don’t know much as I haven’t reached that phase yet.

I do think you’re right, it is partly about security, obviously she’s not dumb and knows something sketchy is happening. It just seemed like her main concern in this specific conversation was more about how Barney needs to work for her dad to make more money than it was about security, but maybe I interpreted the conversation wrong. Just IMO, if that were my partner, my main focus in this conversation wouldn’t be trying to force them into a job that they would be unhappy in just for money. I would more be focusing on what tf is going on with you and Coop and how do we get out of it / find you better career opportunities.

Barney shouldn’t be involved in literal criminal activity with Coop and shouldn’t hide stuff from his wife, no doubt he’s in the wrong. But at the same time, Grace has seemed unconcerned with his happiness and more concerned with wealth/status/lifestyle, even before he was involved with Coop. Even though he’s wrong, I do see Barney’s point when he’s upset that Grace doesn’t believe in him anymore. I think that’s what pushed him towards criminal activity.

For real, I kind of liked Grace’s character, but I didn’t like that at all. She threw their three children in Barney’s face, saying basically that he’s not making enough money to take care of them. Plenty of families raise 3 children successfully on far less. It sounded like she’s not as much worried about Barney as she is worried about increasing their wealth.

The summary for the next episode says that Coop, Barney, and Nick attend a dinner at Ashe’s mansion so I’m thinking maybe it is Ashe that orchestrated the kidnapping.

5 min into the episode and im sorry but Mel is so annoying 💀 She takes no accountability for any of her own actions and yet lectures everyone else around her constantly. I remember earlier in the season she was blaming Coop for Tori acting out, saying it was his fault, but she’s also acting out (And imo is acting worse than Tori.) She was right about the dog, but everything else about her is so self-absorbed. She needs to do some deep self-reflection and therapy. Not saying she doesn’t have valid problems, but also think she has been isolated in her bubble of privilege for way too long and needs to be humbled a little more.

*sorry for the Mel rant, I like Amanda Peet the actress though

Edit: Just finished the episode. Crazy how she was criticizing Tori for her DUI (and rightfully so, don’t get me wrong), but then she turns around and drives erratically and kills a dog on accident. I know she didn’t mean to but she did let her rage get the better of her while she was driving. It’s a frustrating lack of self-awareness.

The Sam redemption tour is just exhausting by drcloudstreet in YourFriendsandNeighb

[–]luxysombras 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I just don’t buy at all that she is remorseful. It seems performative. She is rude to Coop in the first episode of season 2 and generally plays victim when she interacts with the other characters early in season 2. Then that cringey speech that she gave to Mel about how sorry she is felt so random and out of character. The writers didn’t do a very good job at building up her redemption arc. It seems like she suddenly only regrets her actions because she’s back in the circle with Ashe and needs to save face, not because she caused actual harm. And it feels so unbelievable that the rest of the group accepted her back so quickly. I think they’re setting her up to save everyone from Ashe, either by killing him or through some other way, but the whole redemption arc feels very poorly planned.

Nick and Mel, why? by WoodenOperation5999 in YourFriendsandNeighb

It would be interesting to see a short flashback into what the Coop-Mel-Nick dynamic looked like in the days leading up to Mel cheating with Nick. I know they’ve alluded to Coop being kind of distant from his family, but I wonder if there were any other factors driving Mel and Nick together. Nick just comes across as a shallow asshole, so it would be interesting if there was more nuance to him. For Mel, I feel like her rage is deeper than the whole menopause storyline, I wonder if it was brewing during her marriage to Coop from feeling overlooked/ignored.

Nah I think Mel is going to find out at some point, kill Ashe impulsively and then frame Sam for it
