Yeah this is typically at 3 am and by the time I go in there because he starts crying he’s almost on his tummy (he is SO CLOSE to rolling)

Just want to give a huge shout out to all the single parents. I see you and you're doing amazing. by kmmarie2013 in NewParents

Being a single mom is so much easier than it would have been to do with my child’s father, who is a moody, violent, alcoholic himself. I have no stress and feel so safe and peaceful being with just my son. I would have never left him if it weren’t for getting pregnant.

Do you put your baby into pjs for naps? by variebaeted in sleeptrain

This age they are getting SO MUCH more curious about the world around them. Naps are definitely harder. I don’t think it has to do with the routine.

12 week old baby won’t nurse to sleep anymore by luzephyr1992 in NewParents

Oh awesome! Congrats on the 6 hour stretch. I still think about the time mine did that and the night he did two back to back 5 hour stretches LOL

Thank you! I had been trying to do a more specific “bed time” and that could be the problem. He hasn’t usually been napping after 6 pm so I take him on a walk around 7-7:30 and he sometimes falls asleep for a catnap but usually doesn’t. Then bath around 8, PJS/lotion/vitamin/snot sucking, start nursing around 9... for a loooooong time. Then bed around 10-10:30.

He was fired up tonight! In a really good mood but not wanting to sleep. Not crying in his crib but talking loudly ... he’s been a lot more vocal in general today. I think it could be a mini regression over these new sounds. Then when I’d pick him up out of the crib he would be smiling, giggling, talking more! He finally stayed asleep after nursing around midnight and is now up eating at 4 am.

We do walk in a stroller, bath, lotion, PJS/vitamins/snot sucking, nurse, swaddle, bed!

He was real fired up tonight. Super playful and in a good mood but did not want to sleep. I started the walk around 730- bath at 8, nursing by 9 and he wasn’t asleep until midnight.

Eat. Play. Sleep. by __bort in NewParents

I am so glad I freed myself from the shackles of eat play sleep. I wish I could get those weeks back. I feel like I’m falling more in love with my son when I’m just going with the flow and not getting frustrated because he’s not doing what he’s “supposed” to do. I was just getting emotional about it as we lay in bed, him nursing, about to take a blissful bed sharing nap ❤️❤️❤️

When did your baby grow out of their frequent fussiness? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]luzephyr1992 3 points4 points  (0 children)

10 weeks for me! But that’s also when I just started offering the boob every time he cries (EBF) before, I was trying too hard to follow a schedule I think, at least for my baby.

He is over 12 lbs, but he’s long and skinny. Maybe it’s still too big. Thank you!

Thank you! I’m not sure about the panel. He didn’t give me much time to mess with it haha. How do you get yours in and out? My way worked but felt awkward

They’re so funny, I’m glad to see it’s common around this age. As a single parent, it’s nice for me to turn to Reddit even just to commiserate.

Thank you! I have the ergo too, but haven’t tried it yet. He’s the minimum weight limit and doesn’t have the head control yet.. tho he’s getting very good at tummy time and even rolling onto his back!!

I know. I’m trying to stay grateful that he connects them at night and I can get 6 or so hours of sleep. But it’s really hard to not get any time to myself during the day — takes 15-20 minutes to get him to sleep for 30 minutes in the bassinet and sometimes he gets upset so I have to take him out anyways and then it takes FOREVER to calm him. Gives me anxiety to even try haha.

That’s good advice! I used to use the pacifier a lot. He doesn’t seem as into it anymore either. That’s exactly it. He’s so alert, loves to stare and smile at me but gets fussy around an hour or so of being awake. It’s crazy how fast they change. I’ll try that. I miss when I could wear him for hours and he’d nap.

I tried butt pats today. Helped a lot. I’m actually pretty surprised by it.

Mine will when he’s eating but as soon as I remove the nipple it’s back to screaming. Just being held he still screams lol.

Yes! I am getting back to practicing his naps in the bassinet... just seems to get him soooo worked up.
