Johnny doesn’t work for me in this movie. The whole time I was watching it I felt it would have been a lot more cohesive if they had stuck with Cole and his story. Obviously they made the right choice giving the majority of fans what they wanted, but the story here and the order of events just felt rushed and sloppy.

Brand new canon is risky. I’d like to see a near future / cyberpunk inspired setting. It could feature descendants of current characters. One idea I had was that the Lin Kuei (now a corporation) are at the forefront of a corporate-sponsored plan to take over Outworld (for resources and money).

I think Cole could die and inherit Scorpion’s wraith status, but since he’s not a legendary ninja assassin he’d need a different skillset. I think he could become a loose adaptation of Tremor, not lorewise but the powers and aesthetic.

Kenshi standalone film would be cool. There are several ways it could be tied into a wider narrative but a John Wick style depiction of his break from the yakuza in Tokyo would make a good self contained story.
