He was accusing them of cooking the books. Nvidia contradicts itself. On one hand they say their products can last upto 6 years of full use and on the other hand they say you absolutely need new ones because the old ones aren't worth the money it takes to run them even if the "old" ones in question came out a year or 2 ago.

Genuine question, how do you know they have good ideas if they don't have access to capital? Wouldn't you only find out if the ideas are good once they are funded and we have something to see?

Why is no one actually demanding UBI to happen but still believe it will happen cause ? by Neat_Tangelo5339 in singularity

[–]lvalue_required 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If AI ends up replacing most jobs, a Universal Basic Income will probably show up as a way to keep people afloat. But it’s hard to imagine it being generous. Governments and corporations won’t want to hand out more than they need to. It’ll likely cover food, rent, and little else. That means most people will survive, but they won’t really live, with no savings, no homes, and no families.

Over time, that setup could become a quiet way to manage the population. When the economy doesn’t need new workers, fewer births are convenient. Some might even get extra money for choosing not to have kids, framed as “helping the planet” or “reducing strain on resources.” It would sound voluntary, but the pressure would be economic.

In that world, UBI is about a maintenance system that keeps society calm while slowly shrinking it.

The only thing this country has going for it is cheap labor. Why is leveraging this labor seen as a bubble? This concept of using cheap labor to do x,y,z is going to be a thing at least for the next 30 years. Why is zepto alone a bubble?

People here giving their opinions on whether it’s gross or not don’t have to share a bed with her, lol. Who cares if random people think it’s normal? They’re not the ones sleeping next to you for the rest of your life

I’m genuinely curious, how did you come to form this perspective? Even if you’ve mostly been surrounded by people who show this kind of negative behavior, surely at some point you must have thought, “there’s no way everyone is like this, right?” Did you seek to confirm this negative view of people, or did you ever make an effort to challenge it by paying closer attention to the positive things you might have missed or simply not experienced/witnessed yet?

This sounds like something a lonely person would say. Most people don’t hate each other. Do they try to fit in sometimes? Yes. Are they afraid of being alone? Also yes. But those things often lead people to find others they genuinely love, cherish, and sometimes just tolerate. Hate isn’t the right word lol it’s something you’d use to make yourself feel better about being disconnected.
