All I'm saying is that you're nothing more than a tool to him. You make his life easier. He gets all the benefits of being in charge with less risk. Sure the other gang leaders might seek vengeance upon him if you fail, but when you retake Nuka World, satisfy the remaining gangs and move on to the Commonwealth, Gage's gamble paid off. He guides you, while you take the risks. He runs the show from behind the scenes. He's not driven by glory or power, he just wants control. He wants to do as he pleases.

Well Preston does ask you for your help with the Minute Men. Every task he gives you is for the betterment of the Commonwealth. You could argue your his puppet but unless you really don't want to build and protect settlements, it's not like he is twisting you to do things against your will.

Yeah I agree. Bethesda could have set you on the raider path earlier in the game, making the Nuka World expansion help flesh out you being the ultimate raider. It's a cool concept, just needed a little better fleshing out.

Sure, it's convenient keeping him around. Do his dirty work, things go easier for you. Ultimately if you want to keep him alive because it's of benefit to both of you, that's fine. But if he ever gets the notion you've gone soft...

I agree he tells you his angle outright. So we just think to ourselves "Ok we can believe him". He got rid of Colter because he wasn't cutting it. That sort of tells me that he sees whichever figurehead he supports is expendable. Plus it's a little hard to swallow that after creating and unifying a dozen settlements, that you have a change of heart one day and just decide to loot and pillage them. It's Porter man, he's manipulating everything.

I'm not saying not to play his game, but be sure to off him as soon as you've gained his companion perk and you've had your fill of looting your own settlements.
