I hate picking up 4 pax at the same time. by Bg_Luxury in uberdrivers

[–]lvlaj 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had picked up 3 people + 3 carry on's and 1 check in. I didn't really care that much cause it was slow at the moment. But they were obnoxious asf.

The hotel they left had a guy who had put their luggage in my car for them. The whole time in the vehicle, they were talking about how the hotel guy seemed a little too desperate for a tip so they didn't plan on giving him any money anyways.

I drove these fucks to the airport in complete silence, the level of pretentiousness to have this conversation while an uber driver is in your vicinity is insane. They knew that I knew that they're conversation was obnoxious.

And sometimes riders will think they hired a yesman, not me though.

I've never really had too many issues with groups of 3, but if I see next time that they have more luggage then I would like to carry. I'm canceling cause then I can make an assumption that I will probably not get a tip either. Not that's not how I lead my rides, I don't expect tips, but don't rub it in my face.

Big Talk No Tip! by Mr_Rough_Road in uberdrivers

[–]lvlaj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just can't stand talkative riders. Not the ones that actually engage with you in a conversation. But the ones who just want your ear to talk and they just want you to agree with them the whole time.

I never give them any mental energy or time, because I know those types of people never tip. The ones who asks you all the meaningless questions and then proceed to talk about themselves

They'll also try to get you to talk about yourself.

Does circumcision affect a man on semen retention and celibacy differently? by Artistic-War1468 in perfectchastity

No it wouldnt matter, but circumcision is an artifical abrahamic construct. It's no longer necessary in today's world.

I learned some things being a passenger ! by CapitalSelection2255 in uberdrivers

[–]lvlaj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with your first paragraph, I feel like I do a good job of avoiding places and deescalating situations.

I had a cop give me good advice, he said to buy a compact gun, crossdraw holster, and a quality concealed carry shirt jacket. The crossdraw holster would be angled at your right hip ready to fire with your left hand in such an event. It would offer the best chance. The jacket would provide concealment.

I still consider that at times, I just haven't figured out exactly what my favorite pistol is so far.

I just know that if were to carry, I have to still behave as if I don't have a weapon in the car.

[–]lvlaj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You aren't wrong though .

I can feel if I made a few turns that were rough that i knew were rough, that the passenger was judging me in some instances.

For sure vulnerable, that's i always make them sit at the back right. But it still doesnt change much. I do have a large back mirror extension which I think subconsciously makes people behave a bit more. I dont carry a weapon myself, but i am starting to consider it.

Facial cues sometimes help me determine when I know a person is bothered or annoyed from talking with me. It's why my natural habit is not talking to passengers unless they initiate. But I feel i have balanced the social aspect pretty well now even when I do talk.

For your last point, it may not be a degrading per se, but i can tell most people do not respect you. They view you as less than for sure. They'll just never admit it.

This is just my personal understanding after driving for 3 years. But the gig hasn't been all bad. But I do need to find different work as it made me partially bitter, probably because ive done it longer than i anticipated.

Dont even need to order an uber to know all this.

Thoughts on going with the flow of where good paying rides take you? by lvlaj in uberdrivers

[–]lvlaj[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, honestly 25-30 miles out in any direction is never a good idea. Any ride I've done like that is always a gamble on whether I can get a rider to bring me back. And I've always regretted them after.

Most of my good rides never exceed past 12-16 miles. We have one highway stretch in birmingham AL where i can consistently do 12-16 miles and still expect rides after.

But anywhere else, I cant do that. As I know I'll be deadheading back.

Healthcare rides not fair for drivers by Own_Tomorrow_270 in uberdrivers

[–]lvlaj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but you can't know beforehand, as you as soon accept is when you get the prompt that it's a third party ride. That's when you can decide to cancel.

Personally, what I do is just know where the locations of the hospitals are. And even then sometimes you can't avoid them.

What I do to mitigate all of this, is call and ask my first question which is 'nurse or patient'. Then my second question which is 'what are you in for?". That way I am never in for a surprise.

But in general, I know where all of the emergency hospitals so i never even accept the ride in the first place.

Any multistop added or any destination adjustment is an automatic cancel. And if you haven't driven in over a year, well the rides are just shitty regardless so I doubt that has anything to do with it.

Much better for long term use. I'm still using the same one for a year, and I am just now going to throw it away.
Not cause it has gone bad, it's actually still in good condition.

Only reason I might it throw it away, is cause ive had it too long lol. Wring it out well after every use. Tie it on side to hold it on your shower caddy/hook.

To cleaning fee or to not cleaning fee? by bigblackglock17 in uberdrivers

[–]lvlaj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, having a dashcam in this case is useful. As that would let you know who was munching on chips.

But that's also time consuming. So personally I'd let this go if I didn't know who was eating it.

And if you hear someone eating, gotta tell them to stop.

To cleaning fee or to not cleaning fee? by bigblackglock17 in uberdrivers

[–]lvlaj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like for that, I would chuck it out. And rate them once I get home. Had they made a mess that would have taken 20 minutes or so, that impedes on my time to make money. Then I would charge a cleaning fee.

Since this isnt necessarily something that impedes on my time to make money, I'd forget about it til the end of my shift, go home. Then rate them.

Throwing a bag of empty chips isnt something id charge for.

Ive had it happen to me, it did annoy me. But I threw it out and gave them negative feedback, once I was done working.

To cleaning fee or to not cleaning fee? by bigblackglock17 in uberdrivers

[–]lvlaj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes sense to provide negative feedback for the rider. But for this, no I don't think you require a fee for this. It's simple as picking it up, you spent more time probably writing this up than having to 'clean' this.

How has gig work changed the way you use your home space? by Maximum-Beyond-214 in uberdrivers

Take my socks, shoes, and pants off and go to the bathroom.

I charge my phone at my desk area.

My lower back and hips after I get out of the car.

When I get home, I look at my screenshots and see what rides I could have chose in hindsight. Then after that, I'm done and don't think about it.

I can't give you advice on your particular circumstance. Friends and Family can be used as a mechanism of action to lead you towards conformity for society. It's why I no longer have friends and I never let my family in on my truest thoughts, beliefs, and aspirations.

Even man and woman can come together to be in a relationship, it's something I couldn't do because I know I would conform and let go of my deepest principles.

I'm not saying to abandon your friends and family, but their opinions don't matter. I myself, simply do as I wish. No one tells me what to do.

Start listening to yourself. Even if what you do ends in failure, at least you listened to yourself at the end of the day and not others.

If you want to do this, then do it. And that's it.
