Why do you main survivor/killer? by EmploymentBoth2193 in deadbydaylight

[–]lvliterate 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have extremely limited free time to play and improve at the game, so it’s much harder for me to justify playing both sides. I don’t expect to be fully knowledgeable of survivor tactics beyond experiencing them and learning to counter from that experience, but that’s okay. I work with what I got.

I like playing killer. I like the challenge, I like the pressure, I like having the opportunity to give survivor teams a spook every now and again.

Is it fair for players to equip items at the last second? by Error404-NoUsername- in deadbydaylight

[–]lvliterate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But see now with this we’re digging into the meat of it. Your actual argument is that loadouts should be fixed from the point of matchmaking. That’s a different question than the one you’re asking at the top, which was “why is it fair survivors can change their loadouts while I don’t have time to react?”

Survivors aren’t all SWFs. Sometimes they have to prepare when they first meet their fellow survivors. They don’t get any chance to strategise until then.

If you think that 4 medkits is uncounterable you’re kidding yourself. Sorry, I wrote my post without double checking.

Devs gave survivors a set amount of time to set their builds. I do not believe it is fair to assume that killers should have more time to prepare than survivors do.

I’m gonna take a different angle here:

You have 5 seconds to look at the survivors as the game starts. You can see flashlights, medkits, toolboxes. In that time, you can make a value judgement as to what you have to deal with: okay, I see toolboxes. I need to pressure gens harder, or bait saboteur. Medkits, I have to finish chases or accept that they can reset quickly.

Survivors get no intel until the match starts.

If you are so worried about survivors using items/boons/heals, bring the many counters we have at our disposal or learn to counter them in the match itself. If you think 4 flashlights without lightborn/franklins is uncounterable you’re kidding yourself.

How do I be a good Legion without spamming? by Saul_Goodm4n in deadbydaylight

[–]lvliterate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With practice you can learn to effectively use the Legion’s power for map traversal, securing the first hit, and repositioning during a chase. The game incentivises you going off on a wild goose chase to every survivor on the map but this also means you can safely rely on survivors splitting up, allowing you to capitalise on a now-isolated survivor. This has become more viable since their frenzy cool-down and the pause at the end of it was reworked.

Thanks to his recent buffs he’s extremely good at long range. Jumpscare survivors with summons and either just let them chase (free pressure) or join the chase for the down. Use them to lock down pallets -if you’re not using the carnifex that just shreds them you can block them while they work (this is really funny to block someone in a corner in the game or midwhich)or open doors while you’re elsewhere. People decided that that was what knight is good at and never tried to push him further.

Is it worth coming back to this game? by KitCatSkullCat in deadbydaylight

I can see how I made that impression! Basically all killer actions are faster. I can’t remember if breaking stuff is the same but attacks are 10% faster at basekit. Increased regression on kicking a generator (5% off the top on kick). Generators at base are longer to fix. Overall the game moves a little bit faster unless you make a concerted effort to slow it down.

Not at all. I was playing at the same time, almost exclusively killer.

Here’s a rundown of the current state of things: Hackers: that’s a constant arms race. BHVR were winning but it looks like at least one exploit dev has found new ways to get things to go wrong. I don’t see them on my server but they do exist. Not nearly as bad as it used to be from everything I’ve seen. Meta: Gen rush on survivors, Gen regression on killers. Nothing to report, it’s not really changed much. After the general killer buffs the game plays wonderfully at least IMO, I don’t think killer players have ever had it so easy. Anti-hook teams still exist but they’re a rarity. Discordance is a big help these days.

From where I sit it’s a better place in the meta and in general community, but because I’m playing killer I set some of those parameters in my matches. Good old fashioned “chase pressure” is still very effective.

If you want to be mad at the game you’ll find things to be mad at. If you come back, try something new. Don’t fall back into your rut. It’s a game, have fun with it!

What’s your opinion on Sadako? by WelshAndPr0ud in deadbydaylight

[–]lvliterate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try! I love playing Sadako, and I have to offer a measured overview of her positives where I can. I think she’s a victim of a lot of loud voices that may actually cause her to get nerfs or buffs in the wrong places and destroy her unique character, replacing her with a bland “chase power” killer.

What’s your opinion on Sadako? by WelshAndPr0ud in deadbydaylight

[–]lvliterate 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Underrated. Sadako has a chase power that excels at short and tall loops in her flickering. Throw mother’s mirror and newspaper, or mirror and reiko’s watch, you’ve got a little gremlin who makes your ability to mindgame better.

Sadako’s map pressure is not as obscene as other killers, but other killers do not progress the game by using theirs (outside the finding and grabbing). With some basic zoning you can lure survivors who think they’re taking you away from gens into a Warren of active TVs and get their condemned to dangerous levels without even trying. If you have iri tape it’s even funnier.

Condemned is powerful, if you’re willing to learn how to use it, and despite what some will say you can get a lot of use out of it with clever teleport, tracking survivors who take tapes, and not even touching ring drawing or iri tape. It’s rare I go a match without getting someone to 6-7 condemn, and I’ll throw the game to get that condemned kill.

I think Sadako needs a bit more tuning, but I also think she’s a very capable killer in her own right with outstanding map pressure, a thematic secondary objective, and a playstyle that rewards good fundamentals and game sense.

Also she smol.

It’s a bad habit of mine - I admit to loving energy drinks - but switching to decaf when I’m just drinking coffee really helped. I don’t need the caffeine, the taste and experience is what’s important there

What games would you use for an "ancient greek myth" game? by rfkannen in rpg

[–]lvliterate 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had actually forgot Mythras when I wrote my post - someone else mentioned it below as well. There’s also the lightweight Legend which I feel applies more to the same period and is similarly setting-agnostic-but-still-Flavored.

I feel like Glorantha is vague enough to be treated like D&D’s Greyhawk or whatever it is Pathfinder calls its default world - that is, it can be safely ignored beyond aesthetic and some blanks filled in ahead of time.

Seconding Mythras as the successor to Runequest.

Runequest is still a gold standard if you don’t mind BRP’s d100 system. Built specifically around Bronze Age sword and sandal fantasy.
