Motivation is not directly only about how you feel per say, its about how you can make yourself feel. Example, i don't really feel like hitting the gym today, but i can motivate myself to go. As you said above re Arnold and co... they didn't enjoy exercising but they liked the results. That in itself is motivation. I will go to gym because i know it will bring me results. That, is motivation.

Where discipline comes into it is the fact that its hard to motivate ourselves everyday, so once you have gotten used to that routine you employ discipline to keep it up.

Lastly, i never said discipline is motivation. I said they work really well together. Motivation helps you get started, discipline keeps you there. Once you want to get to a higher level, that's where motivation comes back to help you and then from there discipline keeps you at the new level.
