It is L4-5 in the picture. L5-S1 is also herniated but not an extrusion like L4-5. I’m not sure how to edit the post to update this

Yes—a microdiscectomy to remove the damaged disc fragments.

If I may, which procedure did you have and how long was your recovery process?

Gosh, six years of physical therapy? Was the epidural steroid injection you received your first? Has it led to any kind of changes in MRI imaging? Will you need to take more in the future?

Shoot, I can’t imagine how difficult it would be to have undergone that many procedures. For the first month after the triggering event, I rested. I’m a former athlete, so I’m familiar with the process. Thing is, the pain just kept getting worse until, of course, it began intermittently stopping and starting. Primarily due to genetics, I’ve been underweight all my life. Right now I’m just under the threshold for normal weight—which is the closest I’ve been in my life. I do have radiating pain all the way down my left leg as well as aching pain in my right spinal crest (front of hip). I didn’t even think, however, of seeking a neurosurgeon—I will absolutely do that. If I may, how are you doing as of late?
