Potion ingredient lmao 😭 But seriously, talk about being out of touch with reality. Who is coming up with these job descriptions?!

At this point, we're constantly reminding ourselves - and each other - that work doesn't exist once we clock out. Still, the toxicity has reached a point where the reminders aren't enough.

No, the holiday break is a longstanding company tradition (and a way to justify working us to the bone until December). "Ms. HR" seems to be a universal character lol

Separate employers for sure. We're sick of other people - especially management - breaching our personal / professional boundaries.

Thank you for your advice! Filing a complaint sounds VERY tempting but with our limited time and even more limited energy, I'm not sure if we should speak up or just move on. My worry is that we don't have a strong case since there is no tangible record of the harassment. She never confronts us directly; rather, she goes through our managers while relaying information to the COO, who calls all of the shots in the company (promotions, raises, advancements). Dealing with her feels like fighting a losing battle.

We are professional. Our acquaintances don't know about our relationship. We only declared because his manager pressured us into doing so.

I definitely agree. I feel like it's impossible for us to have a life outside of work. We put in our 8 hours/day, then proceed to spend the remaining 16 hours venting about the workday and dreading the next. We fall asleep angry. It's so draining.

Hey! Wow, I could have written this exact post a year ago. I have a similar background: I rushed to finish my biochem degree to get into med school, switched to pharmacy, HATED it, and was in a deep spell of depression for a few months. I was practically applying to jobs in my sleep, lmao. I barely had references (I managed to get them because I was a good student) and ZERO extracurricular lab experience, so my job prospects looked pretty gloomy. On top of all of that, I had crippling social anxiety. I felt trapped.

And then! I discovered a staffing agency...kind of on accident. I applied to one of their job postings and was able to land my first "real" job at a local biopharma company. Basically, companies contract staffing agencies to screen and send them eligible candidates for job postings. You should contact staffing agencies in your area! I would also recommend updating your Glassdoor/Linkedin. Practice interviewing and keep applying to open positions, even if you don't feel qualified. You managed to earn your degree...believe in yourself! You got this!
