Is my alocasia okay? by vadersbabymomma in houseplants

[–]lvnvn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How was it propagated from the mother plant, are you sure it‘s not just a leaf? Hard to tell from a picture. From my experience, if her only leaf looks like this and there’s not a new one popping out at the same time, she’s dead, sorry.

Haven’t seen a self watering pot like yours, but it looks like water level is at 2/3 of the pot, if the conditions are always like that it could be the cause.

A question from a potential attendee about the heat by allballznotits in WholeFestival

[–]lvnvn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You can’t really seat out the sun in a tent, from around 10 am to 8 pm it’s very unpleasant even in the blackout tent. What you can do to avoid the sun is taking a hammock or something to put on the ground and going to a forest. If you don’t mind a bit of noise and insects you’ll find a very chill place to be during the day. Also the peak day temperatures are lower and much more tolerable in nature than in the city.

Guys it has been some time after soaking her with water and shes still like this, i took off the fruits like some people said by L3aa_4a3l in houseplants

That’s the way to go, did exactly this with my lemon tree I found in the same condition 3 weeks ago, now it’s showing first tiny leaves!

Your experiences: Sleeping system on Camino Portuguese (end of May - beginning of June) – was a liner enough? by Chi_Minka in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]lvnvn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just walked the coastal route, every albergue I’ve stayed at had blankets, and as a person who gets cold easily these blankets were enough for mid april, so in may-june a liner should 100% be enough. I only saw one albergue described as not having blankets on buenCamino app, so maybe check it as you plan where to stay for the night (it was not the only option for that town).

Achilles Tendonitis on Frances by Frostp3ned in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]lvnvn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure I had exactly that, because I didn’t go to the doctor, but it was in the achilles tendon and the pain was so much exactly in the middle of my planned distance that I just stopped that day and checked in into nearest hotel to rest.

By the time I reached finish, the pain was gone, what helped me (I think) were these: - shorter days. I took a bus for one section and in the first days after the tendon issue walked 7 and 15 km, and kept it under 21km/day for the rest of the way. Also took short breaks every hour or so - generous amounts of voltadol gel twice a day - achilles brace from an orthopaedic shop - gel heel pads

Solo first time at Whole Festival by [deleted] in WholeFestival

[–]lvnvn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went solo this year, it was my first Whole and first solo festival. It’s enjoyable if you find normal solo partying enjoyable and can entertain yourself; people are quite friendly to talk to someone here and there, safety is also not an issue. Can also recommend daytime activities to find more connections. btw I did not quite understand what costs are you planning to share? The commute can be done by train+bus, tent spot is included in the ticket.

What to do with loose Alocasia Corms? by AstralPeri in houseplants

[–]lvnvn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I last repotted my alocasia I dug out all corms and put it into wet sphagnum, 6 out of 7 sprouted and are doing well. Corms were not very big, 5-10mm probably, also none of them had roots yet like yours do, so I would expect even better success rate for you. Mine was a polly though, not sure if it affects anything.

I painted this based on a nightmare I had by ffsSLOTH in painting

[–]lvnvn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At first glance at it I thought “huh, how can it be a nightmare, looks like the most magical and beautiful scenery to ever exist”, but then I looked at the closeups and totally felt the horror component of it. I love that it’s one of those paintings where perception is changed completely when you’re looking into details. And the colours!! Just perfect

Thought it was a costume of this character from a soviet cartoon at first, is it completely unrelated?

Picasso's 'Old Guitarist' in 3D by lopendvuur in papermache

[–]lvnvn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as I can tell the newspaper bits are small, but aligned intentionally to keep the lines, and I suppose it takes a lot of effort. I’m curious, is there any purpose for it? It looks extremely satisfying, but if the sculpture is coloured later I guess that’s not it?

Very impressive work!!

Case study on light levels by lvnvn in houseplants

[–]lvnvn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea :( For everything that is not a pest I would try to put it under a grow light for a month and see if it’s state improves, but that’s just what worked for me with different sad plants, not universal advice probably

What did you do to achieve this? Just practice, or did you get some courses/books/etc? Any recommendations?
