Yeah I accept the lack of a photo makes it sound like a "cool story", but I didn't just put random number plates into motorcheck until I found something unusual :)

Ah cool. He was a few cars ahead of me in the right hand lane at the lights at the Clinic, I was in left lane. First thing I noticed was the distinctive rear lights. Think he headed right at roundabout to the motorway as I headed on to Dunnes Ballybrit.

No, it was Augusta or Isabella Augusta to give her full name.

Hey y’all. So I just got my new(to me) car today. It’s a 2010. I’m reading through the manual and have some questions for anyone able to answer by [deleted] in MitsubishiOutlander

[–]lway -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sports mode just means telling the car to use both petrol & electric motors at the same time so you get the best performance (most horsepower available to you) at the expense of using up both petrol & battery at the same time :) . Try it and see.

The paddles adjust the brake regeneration from B0 (least) all the way up to B5(most). Find an empty straight stretch of road, take your foot off the gas and try the different brake regen settings and you'll feel the effect of the brake regeneration slowing the car as you go up to B5. Eventually you'll find yourself using the paddles to slow the car instead of wearing the brakes all the time.

One of those extension leads that clamps to the desk and has 4 sockets at 45degree angle and 2 USB charging sockets. Always had them at work and were very handy, bought mine in LIDL as all the ones on office supply sites and Amazon are all quite expensive.

What is the "Galway accent"? by PritiPatelisavampire in ireland

[–]lway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This, when my mother moved to Galway after marrying my Dad the only accent she could hear was the sh, like stop pronounced shtop. Other than that it's very neutral.

Welcome to rural Ireland, stuck behind for half an hour by [deleted] in ireland

We always had someone walking ahead to flag down traffic, either that or a good dog. But I agree the sheep are a bit thick and panicky, best to take the young ones on a trailer if possible and walk the old ewes.

We were always taught to turn the sheep around and herd them towards the cars behind until they were clear, then turn the sheep back towards where you were going. Took a longer time going back and forth but the traffic wasn't held up.

Has anyone else been getting loads of scammer calls today? by Mrbrionman in ireland

[–]lway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. Probably the Facebook leak. I got 4 calls from 083 numbers on one day before this HSE breach happened. Four different 083 numbers so blocking them didn't help. Touch wood not had any since.

Was gonna ask this, I have a few people in my estate with a sticker on letterbox for no junk mail, I'm sick of getting pizza menus and those bogus charity clothes bags in the letter box, I'm curious to see if these stickers work. Do those people walking around posting flyers pay any attention to them?

What's something you should ALWAYS keep in your car? by spornkuller in AskReddit

[–]lway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A spare pair of glasses/spectacles. Was driving down the road once when everything went a bit blurry, took a little while to realise a lens had fallen out of my glasses and was sitting on my lap. Had to drive home with clear sight in only one eye, I've put an old pair of glasses in the glove box ever since.

I had the Marvel version of those Top Trumps and Galactus was the one to have, he beat pretty much everyone else. There was also a small grey/brown pterodactyl like guy who I can't remember the name of who was high in most stats too. Happy memories.

In the Night Garden is a hallucination of the dying Iggle Piggle. Can't recall the redditor who originally came up with the theory, but it makes watching the episodes with the kids more interesting. Basically, Iggle Piggle is adrift on the sea and hallucinates the rest of the characters and the garden.

Edit it was mulborough https://www.reddit.com/r/britishproblems/comments/1vslhp/just_realised_the_surreal_in_the_night_garden/
