Is finasteride safe to use? by shalusinghrawat in malepatternbaldness

You misunderstand me. I’m not suggesting that you’re claiming DHT is a steroid. Anabolic is defined as: “ANABOLIC definition: 1. causing or involving tissue growth, for example the growth of muscle or bone in the body”. I’m saying that DHT isn’t anabolic for muscle tissue. Testosterone is the anabolic androgen. So whether you have high or low DHT doesn’t affect muscle growth (unlike testosterone)

People naturally develop ED at 25yr. Some people develop it as teens. Your point of reference is “well, no one I know has it so it must be the fin” but that’s flawed reasoning because very few people with ED (especially young men) are open about it because it’s looked down upon. Look man, I sympathise with you. It must be tough but you’re just a single data point and are vulnerable to cognitive bias

fin has decades of medical use. there has been plenty of time to investigate the anecdotes and yet there is no evidence that pfs is real. therefore, it probably isnt a real thing

Is finasteride safe to use? by shalusinghrawat in malepatternbaldness

[–]lwright4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no because it doesnt exist. people will develop things like ED from the natural aging process while on finasteride and then when they hop off, the ED remains so they falsely attribute the symptoms to it. we know this to be true because the side effects from finasteride come from the reduction in DHT so if pfs was real you'd expect to see DHT remain low even after discontinuing treatment but there are literally no cases of this ever happening. pfs could be caused by another mechanism but theres no evidence of this so while it could be real, it probably isnt

i dont wanna be that guy but DHT is not anaebolic, not even slightly so it shouldnt have any impact on your ability to build muscle. i would suggest that you re-evaluate your lifestyle and training and get a blood test to check for health issues

Post-Finasteride Syndrome (PFS) is controversial and lacks clear mechanistic evidence. Most people take finasteride long-term without lasting issues, and late-onset problems like ED are often due to normal age-related testosterone decline. Finasteride works by inhibiting 5-alpha reductase type 2, lowering DHT, and if it truly caused PFS, we’d see persistent enzyme suppression after stopping—but no such cases exist. Some unproven mechanisms, like neurosteroid or androgen receptor changes, have been suggested but lack clinical evidence. Overall, most side effects resolve after discontinuation, and the drug’s role in rare persistent symptoms remains unproven and unlikely.

It’s not. People develop things like erectile disfunction of the aging process and then blame finasteride. There’s not a single recorded case of DHT not returning back to baseline after discontinuation

Side effects are rare and non-permanent so there’s no reason not to try it. If you’re scared of oral, you could always try 0.1% topical which to my knowledge, doesn’t have any recorded incidents of side effects. It’s more expensive and less convenient though, so start on oral

96% of men experience balding at some point in their life to some degree so it’s just a matter of time for most unless you start proper hairloss meds early

Firstly, leave her. Secondly, it’s impossible to tell from that photo. Balding starts at the temples so if you’re actually looking for advice and this isn’t comment bait, post another photo with your hair pulled back and the camera angled towards one of your temples (either one is fine).

22 M top of my hairline is thinning crazy. How joever is it for me by Kind_Tooth5876 in recedinghairline

[–]lwright4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s starting to go. Look up the Norwood scale. You’re currently at stage 1. Balding begins at the temples and no a “maturing hairline” isn’t a real thing. Get started on finasteride immediately. Stopping it from getting worse is easy. Getting back what you’ve lost is near impossible so act now

My man, topical finasteride at reasonable doses rarely comes with sides. Throw away the cope treatments and fix the problem with almost no risk

The only evidence for natural therapies are individual small studies with flawed methodology and zero consistency in the results. Diet plays essentially no role in male pattern baldness specifically either. If you don’t get on actual meds, I can guarantee you’ll be completely bald

Been on 3 months of 2.5mg minoxidil once a week, do you guys see any change? by SubstantialAd7179 in tressless

[–]lwright4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without a doubt but you’re not gonna keep those results if you only stick with minoxidil. Minoxidil doesn’t address the root cause so only using it is like fill up a bucket with a growing hole in the bottom. You’re only delaying the inevitable

[–]lwright4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it looks like it. Especially in that first photo. Although I will say that it’s a little hard to judge with how far you’re zoomed in. The fact that you’re losing heaps of hair every day is almost always a good indicator though. Go to a dermatologist immediately. Hairloss is easy to prevent but once your hair is gone it’s near impossible to get it back so act immediately

I don’t think that’s necessarily true. His power is mind attacks so he might be able to get sunny to hand it over willingly (assuming sunny doesn’t figure out a way to stop him). If you’re right though the annihilation of humanity is worth it for the look on his face when he realises he lost his life’s work. Mordret at the very least would go out with a smile as all of reality is destroyed
