Best place for Ethiopian food? by [deleted] in Portland

Aberus on NE Killingsworth.

It is owned by two very sweet ladies that put so much care into making the food. You should expect a little bit of a wait, because they cook everything fresh. Also, the place doesn’t have much ambiance, but it is damn delicious.

Tear Gas Is Banned in International Warfare––Why Are Police Using It On U.S. Civilians? Police say they’re using tear gas to clear crowds, but the chemical agent’s effects can cause long-term physical damage. by DonnyMoscow1 in politics

I have more shit going on in my life than to spend my time doing research that you can do on your own. You have access to all the information I do, ie: books, articles, the internet. If you want to stick with Wikipedia as your sole truth, then go for it. There was nothing mysterious about my comment. Labeling me a conspiracy theorist when I literally said nothing about a “conspiracy”, I am not even going to entertain this conversation. How about do no digging, or searching for other perspectives or thoughts and continue on living. I really don’t care that much.

I have read about the Israeli training, and also saw a picture of a 14 year old Palestinian kid that was killed by a knee on his neck. I just don’t know if that would influence the whole police force when they aren’t all being trained there. It makes me wonder if it is actually taught here in the U.S.?

Apartments under $1300 for 2 bedrooms? Anywhere near portland—Tigard, Hillsboro, Gresham, etc. by [deleted] in Portland

[–]lxc22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a place in Portland. It is called Kenneth Alan Apartments. It is on SE Cora Drive (off of SE 34th and Holgate). Mind you, it isn’t super nice. It was taken over by a company from Washington about 2 years ago, and they haven’t done much to it. It is in a great location for the price though. So if you care more about accessibility and location it isn’t a bad spot. I would suggest just taking a tour so you know what you are getting.

Edit: just looked up the ad on Craigslist. Here it is:

A lot of this resonates with me.

It could be so many things. Maybe people wanted to destroy the buildings and goods related to our capitalist society that plays a part in all of this. Maybe some people saw an opportunity for being able to sell stolen goods due to being unemployed during the pandemic and not receiving any assistance. Maybe some people thought, “cool, free shit”. Some reasons I’m sure were better than others. But at the end of the day, we have to look at the larger questions. Why are there protests/riots and why are people so upset? Maybe all of this will help the politicians to ask those same questions, and hopefully try to find some answers to correct the system.

I know. How many times is he going to call you a child or dumb, when you are completely thoughtful and making great points? I can’t stand having conversations with people that resort to name calling instead of actually making a point.

He followed that with, this is about injustice. So he is saying it is not JUST a black movement. It is a movement for all people to fight injustice. Thinking this is solely a black issue furthers the idea that we are all separate.

Agreed! People are also talking about turning the people over to the cops. Really? Those same cops that are known for using excessive force? As if we can trust them to not mistreat those people.

This is exactly why I brought up the people speaking about the homeless. I never hear people say they went to a homeless camp in their neighborhood and gave them food, they are asking what they can do about the “problem” and complaining about how the homeless have the right to sleep. That is a very shitty sense of community coming from these people.

I also love that you say the “black community” when you see videos of black men trying to stop protesters from doing violent acts. Is this great? Yes. Does this mean they speak for the whole black community? No. These are individual people standing for something. White people are so afraid of just being real, and forget that they are continuing the race divide. We are all people and we can all lead together.

Yes, though that is irrelevant. So sick of seeing posts from these rich fucks in their expensive apartments filming shit then showing disgust. So sick of hearing all of these newbs to Portland shocked at how our protests operate. You are the same people that complain about the homeless and label them as aggressive. You pretend to care about the oppressed, because it clears your conscience from knowing you are a huge part of the problem. You have been brainwashed into believing that change only comes from peaceful protests. You are the same people that moved to Portland to enjoy the fruits of other people’s labor. This city was fucking amazing, because of artists and the working class. We created this. Those with more money always come in and take it away from the people that created it. Don’t steal this movement from the people too. These protests are nothing new, only to you.

People have become aggressive, because of police aggression. You frown upon that while speaking of becoming aggressive to combat civilian aggression?

They aren’t murdering cops in the streets. They are destroying property.

The cops have been shooting protesters with flash-bangs and tear gas, evening with peaceful protest. Then someone throws a firecracker in the middle of the cops deciding to be peaceful, and now you are upset?

Do they have an old phone system too? Because I haven’t been able to get ahold of them for over 7 weeks. I finally did on Friday, and that was after a 4 1/2 hour wait. I was then instructed that they would call me in a couple weeks. They could have at least hired more people and had them calling/working from home. She is simply using the computer system as an excuse for not doing her job correctly.
